Adrien Brody, Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, Angelica Huston and Natalie Portman are apparently shooting a film together in India. The Darjeeling Limited is based on a screenplay from Wes Anderson, Jason Schwartzman and Roman Coppola. Wilson, Schwartzman, and Brody play brothers on a spiritual journey through India after the death of their father.

The film is being shot at locations like Udaipur and Jodhpur in the western Indian state of Rajasthan. Reports have it that the movie may be made at a budget of about $40 million, half the budget of an average Hollywood film.

The script has been written jointly by Wes Anderson, Roman Coppola (Francis Ford Coppola’s son) and Jason Schwartzman.

The film’s director, Anderson, has a deep interest in spirituality. He has learnt yoga and meditation from actor Kumar Pallana in Austin, Texas, over 15 years ago.

This movie won't come out until 2008 frown

If anyone hasn't checked out CQ, directed by Roman Coppola with Jason Schwartzman, you should. It's got the same sort of quirkiness that you'd enjoy if you're into the kinds of movies the people mentioned above make.

Always wary of any film which has too many scriptwriters. Sounds promising though.

Every Wes Anderson movie has had two writers, this one has three.

That's true. But the old adage "too many cooks spoil the broth" came to mind when I read this news story.

Almost every movie that comes out of Hollywood has an average of 10 to 20 screenwriters that contributed to or worked on it. Because of WGA rules, however, there is a very heated process they all go through to vie for which ones can get credited. It's so heated because only the ones credited can make money off of royalties, though all that worked on the film do get to use it on their resumes. There is a maximum of three writers or writing teams that can be credited on a film. So, for example, if Matt Damon and Ben Affleck (a writing team) decide to collaborate with George Clooney and Brad Pitt (two individual writers) on Ocean's 14: Havana Nights, then they would be credited as:

Written By:

Matt Damon & Ben Affleck
and
George Clooney
and
Brad Pitt

...but there would most likely have been about 10 other writers who would have contributed to later edits of the screenplay.
