If you're into playing "Where's Waldo" with religious symbology, then see Matrix: Revolutions. If overthinking your movies isn't your bag and you just want some flights of fancy mixed with some eye candy, don't do it.

Personally, I think that most Sc-Fi stories suffer from Stephenson Effect - you spend 800 pages floridly describing your story, then realize you've got 5 pages left to sum it up. Drop in the Deus Ex Machina, and you're GOLD

Except that it totally ruins the whole concept of resolution and denouement.

Like... Starship Troopers: Suddenly, Doogie Howser has ESP can READS the Brain Bug's mind... "It's Afraid!!!" he proclams, to the raucous shouts and cheers of the Mobile Infantry.

Actually, the whole movie is terrible. But the ending made me shriek in agony.

I always felt the ending of Hitchcock's The Birds was somewhat a coitus interruptus.

Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.

You may think I'm joking too, but I'm dead serious. They were fucking awesome already, so how does growing ZZ Top beards, donning Baby Bjorn carriers, and playing bullshit KISS songs save mankind?! surreal

No because it took me about four hours to stop crying.

Oh jeez, well if that's all then add The Last Kiss. That movie left me completely shattered for days. I wouldn't say that made it bad though. Just truthful.

i can't think of any movie off the top of my head, though i do despise the ending of AI for the simple fact that it took so long to end.

I probably should have been more specific. I meant worst as in most sad and depressing. Sorry guys.

I haven't seen The Last Kiss. What made it so sad?

Yeah, the ending was ridiculous and felt tacked on. It was also extremely depressing. I hated the way that movie made me feel.

Ditto. I was already really depressed at the time, so it made me cry in front of my mother (who loved the movie, incidentally). I hate crying at movies in general, but I was miffed to be crying at such a lousy flick.

Ummmm... that wasn't really sudden. They were doing ESP tests earlier in the movie. It's not as if that came totally out of nowhere. Besides, the movie was already pretty much over at that point. I don't see how that detracted from the movie, or even made an impact at all.
