Diamond tattoos

What are some of the meanings / symbolism of the basic diamond tattoo? Besides it just being a simple badass image?

With or without the word Bling?

You know, most basic tattoo symbols have older, more classic meanings and actually symbolize something more than the obvious - and I thought diamonds might stand for something <i>other</i> than *bling*.

Roethke's right. I can say that gemstone has often been used to represent the vajra, or the moment of enlightnment in tantric Buddhism (or something like that, anyway - my Buddhist theology isn't what it used to be). But if you're talking about the playing card symbol, I can't help you.
