I saw this film a couple of months ago, and it was really dissapointing ... way too amateurish and brash, and you didn't really feel for anything for any of the characters. It had alot of potential to be good, but it kinda turned out to be pretty bad.

Not that I don't want to see this, but I'm pretty sure this idea is nothing new. If I haven't seen it in a movie or on tv, I've read it. I'm fairly sure of it.
The movie is an adaptation of the novel by P.D. James.
But really, its basic story is Cyborg without martial arts or cyborgs. Protagonist with unclear motivation agrees to transport woman with information or ability on how to repopulate a barren, dying world through chaos, warfare, opposition, etc. Better soundtrack, maybe, but I kinda have a soft spot for Pyun-directed version of this story.
I also saw it a while ago and loved it.
One thing to watch out for is the hugely impressive scene near the end of the film in the town when the battle kicks off (trying not to spoil it here) that is all one take. No cuts, no changes of camera, nothing. For around 15mins.
Fantastic camera work.

I read cool trivia that they tried that huge scene a few times & on the last attempt blood splashed up onto the lens & they just decided to keep it in, as it was the actors' best run. I thought it was a deliberate effect. Nice!

Saw it tonight and these are my thoughts exactly.
I would like to read the book though in hopes that it offers more insight.

Man, why watch the movie after seeing that trailer? It basically gives away the entire story.
i would say that experiencing a well-made film usually has very little to do with whether the ending is a surprise or not.
True, and I've heard it's pretty good. But I'm not talking about knowing the end...I'm talking about previews that tell you the entire plot.
yea, I saw it yesterday, and they really do not give you anything else. I mean, whats in that trailer, that's all there is, plot wise.
It was really good aside from that, though.
i guess the question is - did that affect your enjoyment of the movie? did you feel cheated by the trailer you'd seen giving away too much?
no, because the main plot of the infertility (which the trailer showcases) is hardly what the movie is really about....
it was brilliant on many levels, even though it took the classic sci-fi route on a few issues by "not addressing" questions or topics of "what happened"
