There's nothing quite like getting to the part of the movie with the musical montage; it's like the cream in an Oreo, the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop. Here are my favorites.

First, my all time favorite montage, mainly because the song is so very, very awesome. I've tried to find it but it's not on iTunes or P2P and even the soundtrack on Amazon is an import. But really, is there anything you can't do while listening to this song?

Karate Kid - You're the Best

Next comes the Holy Trinity of movie montages, from the series that turned it into an art form. Rocky is the epitome of awesome.

Rocky I - Gonna Fly Now

Rocky III - Eye of the Tiger

Rocky IV - Hearts on Fire

And to round out my list, though I couldn't find the actual clip from the movie, here's a close facsimile. It was hard to choose between Bloodsport and Kickboxer, the end all be all of splits and blindfolded training.

Bloodsport - Fight to Survive

Also, though it isn't a movie montage, I thought this deserved an honorable mention. Remember kids, say your prayers and TAKE YOUR VITAMINS!

Hulk Hogan - I Am A Real American

The first one that popped into my head when I read the headline of this post was the "Karate Kid" one. I think it's that lame song that makes it.

Without a shadow of a doubt. The lyrics to that song are so awesome, yet when i saw it in the theatre everyone but me was dead silent. I kept thinking "Whats wrong with you people, do you not know what a montage is? How can you not find this funny!?"

Yes! My experience was the same!

However, I'd have to say that Team America is probably the only DVD that I kind of regret getting the unrated edition... puke

This isn't the montage you're talking about, where they build the laser in time for Val Kilmer to graduate, but it's still good

Also, the sheer fact that you mentioned the movie reminds me of why I like you so much wink

I am going to watch that movie with Tangus soon, it has been far too long since I've seen the wonderfulness of Real Genius.

Indeed you did. I hadn't refreshed the screen to see the new comments before I posted mine.

Most quotable movie ever.

Self-realization. I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates when he said..."I drank what?"

Just two weeks ago I re-watched Real Genius again after TEN YEARS and its still a good movie, but those 80s fasions are scary.
And whatever happened to that kid who plays Mitch?

Ferris Bueller, Sloane Peterson, and Cameron Frye at the Chicago Art Institute.

It took me ages to realize that the song in the background is an instrumental version of The Smiths' "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want."
