Last week Guardian Unlimited told the story of Maggi, a Mississippi based "sisterwife," one of four wives living together with one husband. Her account provides a rare glimpse into the daily life of a polygamist household and their curious sexual and financial arrangement.

on sex:

As for sex, no we don't get very much actual sex, ie, our husband entering us, but he does work very hard and sometimes quite late so a wife cannot expect him to perform every night...We all live in the same house. We have a bunk-bed double on the bottom and single on the top. Husband, first wife and the "ON" wife sleep on the bottom and the other two "OFF" wives sleep above. We find this very intimate as we all are sleeping in the same bed though on different levels and we can still feel and hear what is happening when sex happens in our bed."

on hot girl-on-girl action:

"No, we don't have physical relationships between sisterwives because its not permitted in our religion. We sleep with our arms on top of our bed covers so it doesn't happen. And in any case if any wife was foolish enough to try all would feel it in our bed; a simple rule - no touching or kissing in bed or at any other time between one woman and another sisterwife and another."

on the future:

I love being in a polygamy family and my sisterwives agree with me. The downside is the sex, not the quality, I have no complaints about that, but just the quantity and we all know that it will get worse when the final two wives join in the next two to three years. Then it will be like two to three times in six weeks. As you go higher in the temple government the more wives you have to have and as our husband has been appointed as group treasurer and deputy convenor of our temple it means he now must have six wives. Us wives get no say in how many wives our husband has but we do have a big say in who joins us - as a sisterwife it's really the only power we have.

They don't mention her religion. I'm curious, because those practices aren't in keeping with the FLDS I'm pretty certain. I have relatives who are polygs, but they're all in Southern Utah and Northern AZ.

She also doesn't mention the underage marriages that are common in FLDS culture. Or the fact that her Prophet is in custody charged with rape as an accomplice. Or that men are leaving (or are exiled from) the FLDS enclaves because there are not enough 'sisterwives' to go around.

So yeah, might not be FLDS.

Yeah, the 16-18 year old boys kicked out for minor infractions are quite a problem. Funny how doctrine doesn't gel with actual birth rates.

Why does a certain position in the religion require a certain number of wives? That's wacky.

"Jensen, you haven't been meeting your wife quota lately! Buck up or you're fired!"

Makes me think, if only we were to have had radio communication in the nineteenth century. "Brigham Young's Top 40" would have been considerably different -- & more entertaining -- than Rick Dee's.

Hell yeah! I would listen! lol!
(hey StarBelly: Brigham Young was a Mormon leader back in the day who had 55 wives).

That was obvious. That knowledge was not the road map I needed to find the funny.

Polygamy worked a bit different in the early Mormon church than it does in most polygamist sects nowadays. Without going into the religious aspect, lets just consider how difficult it would be if you transplanted to a valley in the middle of nowhere with little to no established natural resources to sustain you. People die on the trip... people die in the valley... childbirth is iffy even with medical care...

I'm not saying it was right, only that as someone who lives in Utah and knows something of the region's history, I can somewhat understand why.

They were polygs before they arrived in Utah. Now, I don't hate on the LDS or the other Mormons even though they kicked me out, religion is just pretty wacky no matter what, but all that nonsense about the harshness of the times dictating the polygamy doctrine is pretty much just contemporary whitewashing.

This and the "What? No hot girl-on-girl action?!" thought were what came first to my mind, too.

If it works for them, fine, but I'd require some sister/brother-spouse loving in a polyg/a arrangement.

Only one source for dick, no alternatives, and have to wait my turn for it? No thanks.
