Secret Photoshop Agent and resident Fashion Icon zoetica often has the staff at SGHQ asking, "What's Zo wearing?" Her unique and eccentric style is a rallying call to those who suffer from mainstream malaise. Each week, she tells us how she's combined ordinary items to create her extraordinary look. Undaunted by unusual combinations, "What's Zo Wearing" is SG's answer to middle-of-the-road makeover shows.

Play a character. Pretend it's Halloween. Dress up. However you do it, it's worth it if it gets you out of "basics." One day soon, if you aren't careful, you might find yourself old and fat, looking back at a lifetime of photos of you dressed like a sensible feminine hygiene commercial. You do not want this.

Certainly we all have those dreadful days when we just want to be warm and comfortable. An example follows. I call this look: The Airplane Mechanic. This is the only instance in which I allow myself to wear sweats out in public. Mostly because they don't look like regular sweatpants. The idea here is to pull what could be a rather sloppy outfit together with coordinating colors & a fairly structured top over the soft fuzzy stuff. I still question the sweats tucked into the boots a little, but, in this case, I forgive myself.

Eyeglass Frames - eBay - $12
Scarf - Old Navy - $17
Aviator Vest - Los Angeles Downtown Fashion District - $35
Hooded Top - Ross - $14
Gloves - the dollar store - 99 cents
Pants - Grail [Thanks, Grail!]
Motorcycle Boots - Ross $30

Note: my underwear isn't meant to be showing, but at least it
matches my scarf.

Zoetica Ebb is a painter, SG style technician, make up artist, alt. model, photgrapher & occasional cosmonomad. Born in Moscow, Russia, she was raised by a troup of gypsy scientists from space, who coldly sold her to an American technological research facility in 1992. After a daring escape, she graduated from the LA County High School for the Arts, retreated into the rumored underground atelier where she studied with the much-revered fashion guru Madame Von Kuntzertag, followed by a brief stint at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She's traveled the world, gathering fashion expertise and is thrice certified as official Finesse Monitor to the Khan throne. I love this thing. I look forward to every one.

I adore scarves, too. I have too many.

I usually hate trousers (of any kind) tucked into boots. Seeing as it's you then I'll pretend I never saw it.

Zo being cute again. I think it looks best with the vest unzipped. I forgive you too for the tucked in sweats, I can't imagine that they'd look better over top those boots. Does it really get cold enough for this in LA?

So for the spectacle frames, do you just take them in to an optician/optometrist and have them make up lenses for you? How much does that typically cost you?

Yeah. Why don't you?

i must put an end to this mystery once and for all. the reason i'm not an SG is no fault of HQs. You see, the truth is - i'm really a man.

Also, is it really that cold in LA?

no. but i like to pretend! *puts on ski-suit*

weehoo! i am lucky i have points saved up with you so that i get this sort of leniency!

i also have many scarves and this causes me to hat LA weather a little more each yet! i'm typing this from San Francisco, actually and the weather here is just perfect right now.

LOVE the boots, and scarf, but I just STILL cannot get behind the big new skinny-jeans-tucked-into-big-boots look....hehe, errrr, maybe I just cannot get my big behind in a pair of skinny jeans blush Even still, though, if I WERE thin enough to pull that off, seriously, just not very attracted to the fad whatever
