I hear the upcoming biopic of the tumultuous relationship between Andy Warhol and one-time muse, Edie Sedgwick, really blows. Although almost everyone assumed Factory Girl would be awful, no one anticipated just how truly disastrous it would turn out. When producers presented the finished product to the studio, the suits demanded a re-shoot. The film even disappeared from the list of upcoming releases on the Weinstein Co’s website. Some question if the film was shelved all together. "There are just too many things wrong with it," a source claimed.

However, the rumors may be unfounded; Sienna Miller (who plays Sedgwick in the film) recently re-shot some scenes with co-stars Jimmy Fallon and Guy Pearce. Insiders reported studio boss Harvey Weinstein will not let poor reviews stop him from shooting for Oscar glory; reports state Weinstein plans to have the film out by the end of the year, just in time for Oscar consideration.

Decide for yourself; check out the trailer for Factory Girl.

Hope springs eternal in the Weinstein household, I see. Of course, optimism isn't entirely unfounded here, since he has a way of ramrodding his product into the Oscar mix with enviable skill.

I really didn't have high hopes for this either, but of course Guy Pierce is waaay too pretty for a guy and that freaks me out. If nothing else, I'm sure the film will at least bring back mod fashions.

I didn't realize that was Guy Pierce as Warhol until the end. I thought it was Val Kilmer. surreal

I worked on this movie(in the lighting department). I hope it's better than everyone says it's going to be. It was really fun on set and Jimmy Fallon and Sienna are really fun off set. www.evolutionsyndicate.com

Why do they fuck all the films about the really cool people, the interesting ones, yet films about nobodies are usually excellent.

Gods way of readjusting your 15 minutes of fame.

Was Jimmy Fallon laughing through all of his scenes again? I mean, if they just cut him out I would be ok with it.

Re-shoots ALWAYS happen. Not sure that this should be considered as a bad sign. Your favorite movie very likely had some reshoots. Just part of the process.

Weezer played The Velvet Undergound in this movie, too. And when they talked about it, they said they played the songs better than the real VU did....

I'm not surprised it's awful.

Yo La Tengo plays them in I Shot Andy Warhol. Aside from the fact that they're 1000 times better than Weezer (and I don't mind Weezer), they have a woman drummer, damn it.
Also, in that film, Jared Harris does a damned good Warhol. Guy Pierce is great and all (The Proposition is the best film of 2006, and he and Ray Winstone are the major reasons why), but I'd advise people to just skip Factory Girl entirely and watch I Shot Andy Warhol and the South Bank Show about AW (it's on DVD).

Gee, I'm shocked.

Maybe they could've gotten Horatio Sanz to play Andy. biggrin
