It has been a long journey for Darren Aronofsky and his film, The Fountain. This venture has been over six years long but film fans can rejoice because The Fountain is finally being released. It is one of the most emotional and moving films (not just science fiction) I have ever seen. The Fountain is confusing at first but soon you are deeply involved in Tom [played by Hugh Jackman], the scientist/conquistador/space traveler's journey to find his what he considers his soul.

Check out the official website for The Fountain

The movie was interesting. Im still not sure what to think about it.

I met Darren at a special screening of the movie in Tempe. He answered some questions and stuff. It was neat. I didnt know he was going to be there until I got there.

The first 20 minutes make no sense, and then the rest of the movie gradually begins to make sense, just to leave you silent at the end. It'll make you think.

I saw this movie at the Toronto International Film Fest in September. I've been counting the days until I could finally see it again. While the reviews for this film are totally polarized (you either hate it or you think it's the best film of 2006!) one thing that's for certain is it needs to be seen. This is definitely not superficial Hollywood fare.

It'll make you think, that's for sure. It also accomplishes something you rarely see in sci-fi movies - it is infused with gut wrenching emotions. Then again, aren't all his films? smile

I bought this movie right after it came out, it's completely mind-bending and inspirational. Aronofsky is a genius, so I can't wait to see what his next project will be. Great interview!

It's so interesting to read this now after The Wrestler has come out and read him talking about his future project. I feel he really did go back to the Pi style of shooting.
Aronofsky truly is one of the greatest filmmakers of all time.
