CELEB: Sacha Baron Cohen Punched by Pissed New Yorker

Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen had his ass handed to him on a New York street a couple of weeks ago. Following his brief appearance on Saturday Night Live, Cohen took to the streets of Manhattan dressed in his Borat costume. As the actor and his friend Hugh Laurie made their way to dinner, Cohen put the costume and character to use, harassing a random stranger on the street.

The New Yorker, apparently the only person in the country unfamiliar with Borat, responded to Cohen’s come-on by repeatedly punching the actor in his face. Laurie gave his homeboy a hand by pulling the stranger off, freeing Cohen to run away.

I guess the severity of the beating depends on which neighborhood one is visiting.

I don't think so, or he'd probably be filing a sexual harassment suit against Cohen in retaliation.

I like that he fucks with people even when the cameras aren't rolling. Presumably this wasn't filmed or it would be on youtube already. And somebody freaking out and punching him in the face is a lot radder than Martha Stewart trying to teach him how to make a bed on Jay Leno. This kinda humor only works when everybody isn't "in on it," y'know? I knda hope that when he's done making the rounds to promote the movie, we never hear from Borat again.
