Two frat boys announced they intend to sue the producers of the film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit. The frat boys claimed the producers, along with Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen, encouraged them to get drunk, filmed their bad behavior, and used the footage in the movie. The plaintiffs, referred to as John Doe 1 and John Doe 2 on court documents, said they were told the footage would not been seen in the U.S., and their identities would be hidden.

They were both selected to appear in the movie and, according to the suit, taken "to a drinking establishment 'to loosen up' and provided alcoholic beverages." They claim they signed the movie releases after "heavy drinking."

The suit claims both men were then taken to a motor home where they were filmed, all the while "encouraged to continue drinking."

The plaintiffs claim they suffered "humiliation, mental anguish, and emotional and physical distress, loss of reputation, goodwill and standing in the community" because the movie was, in fact, released in the U.S. The suit asks for unspecified damages.

Sounds a lot like Girls Gone Wild. I bet these boys, along with the rest of their frat brothers, not only own a porn library replete with GGW videos, but perhaps also film a few homemade GGW-style videos themselves.

Suck it up, boys.

That's a damn good point, alyk. I wonder how many of those girls have tried to sue? If two shitfaced fratboys can claim drunkenness to excuse them from the release they signed, then the shitfaced sorority girls should be able to as well.

Here's a notice to all the frat boy's out there, you know when you have some big, sexist frat party and you publicly humilate a bunch of drunk girls?

Congratulations, now you know how it feels.

I'm betting they lose their case. Proving the facts stated is pretty hard.

Especially forfeiting the contract due to drunkeness. You'd have to prove that you were so sloshed, there's no way you'd of signed it drunk. Which is pretty damn hard to prove.

Great way to call further attention to your own idiocy, boys. It might have been smarter to simply fade into embarrassed obscurity.

I'm sure there had to be A LOT of encouragement for them to continue drinking! Fucking idiot frat boys...I hope this case gets thrown out of court and they suffer even more humiliation and "mental anguish!" Fuck fraternities!

It does sound a lot like Girls Gone Wild, and just because they're guys, and probably assholes, doesn't make it any more right to take advantage of them. I want them to win their case, not because I want them to get any money but, because it will set a precedent that those who prey on the drunk and stupid for their own entertainment can be held to account.

I use drunks for my own entertainment every weekend. If I thought I could make some money filming it, I would.

I actually saw this part of the movie when I was walking shows. The Doe's in question were complete douche bags and I'm pretty sure it was their personality, not the alcohol. Alcohol might make a douche bag louder and less afraid but the underlying douchiness is present the entire time, alcohol or not.

Here's a notice to all of the people out there sitting on a very, very high horse. You know when you feel superior to someone while simultaneously making a glaring grammatical error...thus making yourself a target for someone else's sense of superiority?

Congratulations, now you know how it feels.

One of my favorite parts from the HBO series is when Bruno is at spring break and he gets those college guys to do all that gay stuff and then lets them in on the joke at the end and they get all pissed.
Hiiiii-fiiiive!

So... they don't want anyone in the US to know how unbelievably stupid they are, but it didn't fase them that the rest of the world would see it.. The worst part is that, despite being an expert at humiliating people, Borat didn't even make them look stupid, they did a perfect job at that themselves.
Like munkyspunk said, i don't think they needed a lot of encouragement to get drunk for fucking free! They knew what was going on and they even seemed to enjoy it very much so fuck them. It's not like anyone forced them to be their idiotic selves.
And 68stretch, you can't use being drunk as an excuse to get away with shit. That's like: "i know i cheated on you, but i was drunk".

Shhhh, quit telling people I can't get away with shit because I was drunk. Sheez, now what am I going to do the next time I get blitzed and crawl into the front window of a cop car to ask them to be the strippers for the bachelorette party?

No, they are just a whole lot less likely to have someone run up to them and say "Hey, you guys are the racist douchebags off that movie, right?" if the film was only shown overseas. Or, at least, they would think so, but as quickly as shit goes on the web, they should have known better than to show off their ignorance.

I'm pretty sure I never said getting drunk was an excuse... wait... no... wait... let me check again. Yep, I never said getting drunk was an excuse. In fact, I think the point of my post focused on the people who take advantage of those in a diminished state.

Oh, and your analogy is off base as well. In the Borat example, the drunks were the (alleged) aggrieved party. In your example, the drunk is the aggrieving party.
