I used to wear almost nothing but black. Partially because they didn't get dirty so much and partially because they were almost always hand-me-downs from my older brothers, but also because I always thought I looked good in black. Some years back, I was at bar or concert or something and ran into a guy that me and my brother used to hang out with. He saw that I was still wearing black and said something like "atleast one of you is still wearing black." Apparently he had recently seen my brother and he was wearing a different color. Of course I informed him that it's only coincidence, I wear all kinds of colors now. It wasn't true, but now a days I do. Nowadays, I like bright obnoxious colors, even though I don't own many of clothes of those colors.

Anyway, I was never goth, but people always thought I was, because of my clothes. It always bugged me.

I wear black and I usually have a Led Zep t-shirt or something on, and the goths all grin at me. I admit my boyfriend knows them all (he's not goth, even in the slightest), but all the goths round here are so friendly it's a bit frightening actually. Maybe that's just here? They're the most affectionate people ever, it's like having a field full of black, makeup wearing puppies coming after you.

I get this a lot-people are like "Wow you're really funny for a Goth" and such

I like to fuck with people's heads though-for instance I love MC Hammer,Vanillas Ice and such,so I love to put that on and start b-boy dancing...get a lot of confused looks.I have Can't Touch This as my ringtone and I get the funniest reaction when it rings on buses and stuff...he he he.

Ah it's because everything has to be grouped, it's useful to have labels for descriptive reasons, but i don't think i've ever counted myself as a certain "something" - i do things and thats what i do, don't care what they might be called.. It always happens when there is a trend / ideal to follow you always get the chilled out nice people and the uptight look down type people... it's the way of things. Stick with the chilled people and wait for the hectic people to learn / live / catch up... the people who roll their eyes are in the latter group me thinks... altho pretty much all the "goth" people i know are lovely and would never do that kind of thing..

I believe that it is simple: A Goth establishes themselves and wins immortality by the glory of their deeds. These Goths who you pass are apparently attempting to challange your image; they seek to goad you into a battle so that when the time comes to enter the vaulted halls of Valhalla they shall be given a position of honor in the hall of Great Wottan!

...

I've confused my Goths again, haven't I?

if i had been drinking something, it would have shot out of my nose.

fucking hilarious.

Now, now, let's not make fun of Goths too much, especially on SG of all places. Making fun of Goths on Suicide Girls is like making fun of fat people at a Weight Watchers convention!

No it isn't. I'm not goth...and I've BEEN to a weight watchers convention. Now...making fun of goths AT a Weight Watchers convention...THAT would be funny.

There would be some chubby kid dressed in black...asking how many "Points" were in "your eternal soul"....and how many "Activity Points" you can earn for pain & suffering

^ #1 reason why my warddrobe rarely wanders beyond jeans and a band t-shirt. I wish I could be a worshipper of dark lords, but time for clothes, hair, makeup...I'm not a morning person, I just can't do it. I think there's a reason the uniform used to be a big ol' shroud. tongue

I am not sure if this was mentioned but if one of those hardcore Goths rolls his/her eyes at you again you could recommend a good eye doctor to fix their eye problem

Well, I think that's what Goths do... dress in black, roll their eyes. Really, never seen them doing enything else!
On Saturdays I work near where the local goth hordes (and emos, etc) gather, and it freaks me out everytime. Because it's fucking summer here.
I admit I wear a lot of black (it looks good, dammit) but I swear I haven't worn anything with sleeves (not even short ones) or anything but flip-flops in the last 2 months. I sweat just to see them kids in long pants, black shirts, boots, etc.

Now I get it, Goths are athermic.

I love the little glaring teenage Goths. I walked by one last Christmas, turned to my daughter and muttered, "Oh, look, it's Goth Barbie!" The look I got from the little Angel-of-Death-via-Hot-Topic should've burned a hole through me.

this entire thread has had me laughing so hard i woke my roomates!

my 2 cents

i consider myself goth at heart but most people look at me strange if i say that. I live in sunny ass FL and i think anyone who dresses the standard hottopic uniform goth is insane. I live in flip flops, jeans and t-shirts. and yeah a lot of them are black but thats cause unfortunately 90% of band t's are black. but anyhow, i love brigh tbold colors. i also love industrial/darkwave music, horror movies, books and comics, and vinyl clothes and bondage-y goodness. If that does or does not make me goth I dont really care. But I figure people are going to lable others whether they like it or not so the lable I feel comfy with is goth.
