I agree with both of you, however, seeing as it is already in the works, I am going to pray every night that it is as least fucked-up as possible. And hopefully, seeing the respect Snyder has given to "300," it will be as true as possible. *worries*

And I will still go see because...well....dude, it's WATCHMEN. wink

Yeah the trailer is AMAZING. I saw it the other night in front of Saw 3 (Which was more torture than anything presented in the film by the way.) And if Snyder can pull off Watchmen (Which has been in purgatory since 89-90 when Terry Gilliam was kicking around the idea of making it.), then he should just quit and ascend to his throne in the heavens cause he wont be able to top that achievement.

I embarrassed my girlfriend thoroughly when i saw the trailer in the movie theatre... this is my favorite ancient history story, period. Leonadis was a badass, (as were all spartans) he charged with the second line of his men, and they tore some persians up real good. ugh... I love the story and know all I could get my hands on about it, way before this came about... i have to find the comic that goes along with this... i really hope most all of the history is put into this, and I don't think i would mind any embellishments, though i don't see how you could make this fight much cooler...except, ya know... them winning... scratch that.. its better the way it turned out..er.. in history.
also, gonna go find gates of fire monday, cause I need to read the story again. thanks gammarat

Snyder's currently arguing his case for keeping the movie in the 80's. What he wants to do is what he did with 300 (as in, "well, we should stick as close as we can both visually and narratively"). His plan for the beginning, in this case, is a brief history leading to that Nixon-led alternate 80's.

So long as they trim down Alex Tse's action beats from the rewrite and change Veidt's "world-saving plan" to something closer to the book, this might turn out as close to perfect as any adaptation could get.
