After premiering Thursday night on your MTVs, VH1s, and so ons, the Spider-Man 3 trailer is now available for your viewing pleasure on ifilm.com.

Aside from fulfilling your daily requirement of cross-skyline gallivanting and spandex butt, the delightful little preview also gives fans some of the juicy plot details they've been craving. Included in the two and a half minute juggernaut is a look at Sandman (Thomas Hayden Church) in action and the revelation of the role he'll play in the plot (larger than previously assumed), a peek at just how well Harry Osborn (James Franco) is taking the news that Spider-Man is Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire), and various romantic subplot junk. All thrilling stuff!

It's all merely small potatoes, though, compared to getting our first thorough look at Spider-Man in his black costume. After debuting in the Secret Wars crossover during the '80s, the black outfit (otherwise known as the symbiote suit) has been consistently cited as one of the finest achievements in superhero fashion since Superman's secret-identity concealing glasses. Though some may be disappointed that the outfit hasn't made it to the silver-screen completely intact (the big, white spider on the chest is missing), they can at least take comfort in the fact that the gooey garb is still corrupting our perennially depressed hero and subsequently forcing him to strip naked in clock towers.

Unfortunately, the film itself will not be released until May 4th. However, you'll at least be able to see the trailer on the big screen next week when it arrives in theaters with Casino Royale.

Detested the first film, loved the second... but they still don't seem to have overcome the BAD animation of "digital" spidey.

I'll give it a whirl - Sam Raimi's cool, and the themes look great - very much in spirit with the spiderman I remember.

I'm so proud of myself of owning this issue.

But yes, no Venom shots. That was indeed "teh suck," as the kids on the streets like to say.

Other than that, I'm stoaked as fuck for this movie. Sam Raimi's home movies probably contain more action than most hollywood blockbusters.

For some reason I feel that "Venom" will be in this film like "The Lizard" was in the last one. Just setting it up for a possible future. It would be way too much for both Osborne Jr taking up the Goblin role, and Church as the Sandman, as well as the mess with the symbiote suit, and after all that, having Grace (as Brock) taking up the rejected suit for a double-team of revenge against Pete. Unless it's a 4 hour movie, or Raimi really half-asses it all that is. Or he could throw it in as a cliff-hanger ending (Spider-Man 4 anyone?).

Even IMDB just lists Grace as "Eddie Brock" not as Venom, while Church is listed as "Flint Marko/Sandman".

I'm thinking if Venom IS in the movie, he'll be either all CG or played by a bigger dude than Grace and most likely with a radically different voice, so Grace probably wouldn't have any hand in that side of the character.

True... but I'm thinking it would then say "Venom (Voice)". Hell, I could be totally wrong, and I'd be the happiest nerd on my street. But for my money IF he appears at all, it'll be in the last 2 minutes of the film. Something like Harry finding his father's Goblin Gear in part 2. After fighting the new Goblin, AND tracking down and fighting the Sandman, if would have to be a 10 minute subplot if it was in the film, and the fans would revolt. Venom deserves to be the starring villian to do him justice.

It was announced long ago that Venom will indeed be featured but they did not say for how long. Also that it will be Topher in the suit with CG added, thats why Topher was put on a Toby Maguire *pre Spider Man* work out routine to get him in shape.

Venon will likely be introduced just at the end of the flick....Eddie Brock all pissed off about something Spidey did will meet up with the alien just as Spidey figures out how to get it off him...he'll have a quick cameo at the end, introducing us to the main threat of Spider-Man 4. Similar enough to the comics to keep the fans happy.

anyway

that trailer got me all kinds of pumped up. looking forward to it completely.

Does anybody remember the mention of Eddie in the first movie?
I somehow believe there has to be at least a cameo of Venom. Upon defeat of sandman and goblin 2.

I love the idea of Venom being the big bad in Spidey 4 but last time I checked 3 was the end of it all. 1 was the Origin 2 was the self doubt and 3 looks to be about battling himself.
I hope I'm wrong and I would love to see Venom because that means Carnage would be possible and that would be ALL kinds of fun.
