There are striking simularities between the evolution of Suicidegirls and the career of underground rapper Sean Daley, better known as Slug from the Minneapolis hip-hop duo Atmosphere. Slug has been a supporter of SG for years, contributed his music to the Black Heart Retrospective and even name-drops the site in a song title on Atmospheres 2003 record Sevens Travels. But there are also more subtle career links to be explored. Like Suicidegirls, Atmosphere are known for their punk-rock ethos and...
Nice interview. And fuck the haters and the kids with a high school mindset complaining that their favorite groups make it big. Atmosphere and the whole Rhymesayers roster deserve all the shine they're getting. Keep it up Sean.

Atmosphere was, without a doubt, one of the best shows I've been to in a wihle. I've never been a huge hip hop fan but I can't help loving their records.

Good shit. I love the fact that slug and ant have become what they have become. Everyone in MPLS was rooting for 'em for quite some time.
Fer sher. I was happy to see this in my feeds. Can't wait 'til we see an interview with P.O.S. too. And the rest of Rhymesayers, to boot.
We all love a clown / But we don't wanna see you climb up out the underground / Watch out! / If you don't like the sound / Fuck you! I'm just tryin' to put it down for my home town
Yeah... Slug has a certain something in his sarcasm....
It really brings a level of separation to (common trendy hip-hoppers cheering for some fuck they don't even know what he's spitting, then spreading his name cuz he 'sounds cool') from people with an actual passion for music.
Thanks Slug for the years of bringing kids back down to the level pretend not to be on...
Also, thanks for not switching up your shit just because of a bad review or 36....
a few friends and i trucked out on a road trip once to go see Atmo in my hometown. the show was nuts (it was back during a Slug / Dibbs / Micronauts / Brother Ali tour) and afterwards, while i was still trying to cope with what would become two day's worth of brutal tinnitus, a buddy came out and said
"i went and said hi to Slug."
i said what was he like? what'd you say to him? he said
"i just told him thank you, modern man's hustle changed my life."
and ever since then that's the moment that stands out from the road trip. modern man's hustle did change our lives.
by the way the correct answer to the last question is me.
he gave it with minimal prompting, but i had to cut that part of the interview due to space considerations...and because some things are not meant for the presses
keep the comment love coming, my little heart is swelling with pride right now.
