Ok I thought up a few questions when I was bored at work and want to know what everyone's views on these questions.

Is Albert Einstein responsible for the deaths at Hiroshima?

He is responsible for what he did. He helped to move science to where it could create nuclear weapons. If you don't care about what is means to establish responsibility then it's easy to say a person had some level of responsibility all the way down the line. Is a doctor who develops a drug responsible for saving lives years after his work? Sure. Having some level of responsibility isn't the same thing as performing the action, usually.

Is a person you makes guns responsible for the deaths caused by it?

Sure. In the same way a fertilizer maker is responsible for feeding us.

Is a bar tender responsible for a patron that has a wreck and kills someone due to being drunk?

Why wouldn't the bar tender be responsible for their own actions? Helping in the creation of a drunk patron.

I have no problem saying that a person who gave money to a drug dealer had some responsibility for what that dealer's organization does to get drugs and hold their turf.

Do you consider a doctor that preforms an abortion a murderer?

No.

If you fire a gun out your window without looking are you responsible for the bullets? Responsibility doesn't require certainty of outcome, or even intent. So it's a huge grey area, so huge that simply establishing a low level of responsibility is often not very useful.

Were car manufacturers responsible for the high number of fatal crashes in the 50's? Sure. Doesn't mean you arrest them, you look into ways of getting them to stop making steering wheels which impale drivers on impact.

You have to OWN it.

When I got busted for pot at school in 8th grade, my friends were afraid that my parents would be mad at them for giving it to me.

They weren't, they were mad at me for accepting it and being stupid enough to bring it to school.

you got busted for posession in 8th grade?
you are so cool.

Is smoking weed in 8th grade not normal? It was pretty common where I grew up.
