Family Guy fans be disappointed this season; contract negotiations halted production of the hit Fox cartoon series. Series creator Seth McFarlane reportedly asked for a lucrative new deal, while the studio, 20th Century Fox, chose not to deal at all. The studio delayed the season to push McFarlane to accept their offer.

With financial compensation said to be the only sticking point between the studio and MacFarlane's representatives, a deal is said to be pending within the next few weeks.

Family Guy's animation process is said to be a very lengthy process, so fingers are crossed for the two sides to close a deal in order for there to be a 2007 -- 2008 season.

Fucking damn it.

That's all I have to say. McFarland is beginning to let it all go to his head.

I don't follow. Fox is basically blackmailing him.

They basically owe him. I mean, he created a good product and they shat all over it with poor promotion, declared it a failure, and canceled. DVD sales were more or less created out of nothing.

I don't really like the show myself, but I hope he gets what he deserves.

I hate Fox, sure they do have a lot of good shows or did in the past, but that whole studio is run by a bunch of lunatics. If Family Guy wasn't owned by Fox I'm pretty sure Seth would have switched networks or something. The show has a huge following, I just hope it doesn't get any further than production delays.

Fox are part owned by Rupert Murdoch aren't they?
That would go some way in explaining how evil they are.

Someone better sort this out or Seth might unleash another series of American Dad on us... <shudder>

He was looking for a lucrative deal. I don't think he's going to get it from the people that brought us 12 oz. mouse and Tom Goes to the Mayor.

true but if Fox isn't willing to pay more then why not go with the network that supported them when Fox kicked their asses out in the cold?

Good! That show sucks something awful and should have never been put back on the air to begin with. It's nothing but a pathetic Simpsons rip-off with terrible writing and animation. puke

I am in total agreement there. The Simpsons has gone WAY down hill in all departments (I really don't even watch the show anymore - what's the point?). But there will always be those first eight or ten seasons which are brilliant.

No. In fact I don't even watch The Simpsons anymore. I think that show should have called it quits about six years ago. But the fact still remains that The Family Guy is completely unfunny and unoriginal (see The Simpsons and Married With Children), and makes dreck like Prison Break look classy.

"Family Guy fans be disappointed this season"

Family Guy fans have been disappointed since the new seasons started airing, the show just isn't what it used to be. I stopped watching it after a few episodes when it first came back.

Hmm, i have to agree that Family Guy takes a lot of inspiration from the Simpsons and probably wouldnt exist without it, but i still enjoy it and think it's hilarious...even though it is extremely sexist.

Fox is owned by News Corporation, the Chairman and CEO of which is K Rupert Murdoch. The Murdoch family owns about 29% of the shares, and almost all of their holdings are in voting shares, meaning they effectively run the show.

Quite why you should think that explains their 'evilness' I don't understand - BSkyB might have vastly inflated the wages of EPL footballers through their TV deals but Sky News is far from being a UK counterpart to Fox News. All media oligarchs tends to be a bit on the megalomaniacal side - don't you remember Cap'n Bob ??
