The View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck can't catch a break lately. She's suffered lately from on-camera tongue lashings from her mentor and co-host, Barbara Walters. Even the newest addition to The View family, Rosie O'Donnell, caused the tiny conservative's blood pressure to boil over; O'Donnell regularly kicks Hasselbeck's ass in conversations about the war in Iraq and other hot button liberal topics. Now, on top of all of this, Law & Order producer Dick Wolf may be taking shots at her as well.

Last week, as Hasselbeck sat down to enjoy Law & Order S.V.U, she was shocked to see a gruesome storyline featuring a character with a name similar to her own. The episode focused on a character named "Elizabeth Hassenbeck," who is raped twice and murdered. Hasselbeck took this as another slap in the face, so she called up a L&O producer (most likely honcho Dick Wolf) and explained displeasure, threatening a L&O blacklist at The View. The unnamed producer essentially told Hasselbeck to suck it.

The following is Hasselbeck's version of the story.

Elisabeth: Last week, S.V.U. had an episode where a 30-year-old woman in New York City was raped twice and then murdered, and her name was Elizabeth Hassenbeck. And I found that disturbing.

Barbara: Not the most common name.

Elisabeth: About as close as you can get to a name that probably only one person in the whole world has: me. Maybe there are two others in Germany somewhere. I was upset by this, just because I thought it was socially irresponsible. So I didn't know what to do about it, so I called the executive producer of Law & Order: SVU. I'm not gonna say his name.

Rosie: But you can Google it at home.

Elisabeth: He eventually called me back. He was defensive right from the jump. And I said, "Look, someone, I want to let you know I think it's socially irresponsible to do this nowadays. I have a family and it's suggestive." I said "I know what you guys did. It's essentially my name." And he said "Well, you can just chalk that up to coincidence." And I said "Really? That's funny. Because your show is so not based on coincidence, and pulls things from the headlines and is so focused on headlines, so I'm having a hard time chalking this up to coincidence."

Barbara: Good for you.

Elisabeth: He got more angry, pulled over, and he said "I'm sorry we hurt your feelings." And I said "It's not about feelings, whatsyourface, and I just wanted you to hear from me first before I come out here and vent on The View." I said "I'm sorry too, because I never want to sit next to anyone on that show, and I think they're good actors and good people, but I can't sit next to them without feeling as though I've been disrespected and put at risk." So he said "You know, I don't have to deal with you… goodbye, Lady!"

Barbara: You have to wonder, who was it that wanted your name. Was it somebody that disagrees with you politcally?

Joy: Could it have been a coincidence?

Rosie: I don't know, if they had Rosie O'Connell, an overweight lesbian talk show host, I might go "Maybe it's me!"

Who knew Hasselbeck was powerful enough to blacklist someone in the industry?

He could have offered some kind of compensation: "Tell you what Elisabeth, if someone rapes you twice and kills you... I'll owe you a coke" I feel like all she wants is that gesture...

Dick Wolf is an asshole. Being cavalier about orchestrating the vicarious rape and murder of someone you don't like is pretty stupid in my....View.

What an odd story.

Dick Wolf will probably make NBC re-run that episode on 5 channels next week, and wait for the cash to roll in.

Working in the media put someone in the public eye at all times. I can see how what transpired on Law and Order in regards to the name of the character, and how close it was to her own name was not merely coincidence...I would see it as a personal attack myself. I do think they should offer an explaination, then drop it.

Will anyone care a week from now?

F-her. It's a tv show, and a very good one at that. Not the fricken bible, and if it was the bible that would be really weird.

I think it is a coincidence. No one involved with Law & Order: SVU probably watches the View and so they picked a name out of a hat or pulled one out of their asses and tongue there ya go!

Pretty much all shows, movies, and books come with a disclaimer that all characters are fictional and any resemblance to persons living or dead is mere coincidence. There are over 300+ million Americans. There is so more than one Elizabeth Hassel-whatever.

Apropos nothing, handsome guy, but when you next adapt your username, I vote for "PointBlanket".

Thanks.

Some day I want to grow up and be just like her: a D-list, reality tv celebrity married to a 3rd string pro-athelete. Get a grip, you whining twat and be glad that someone actually knows who you are, to hate you enough to want to see you raped and killed. Some of us will never get to even meet a pro football player.

I'm pretty sure that most people share their name with someone. I googled my real name and got many many pages of results, very few of them me.

Furthermore she needs to work on her ego or something.

Finally, it's Law and Order. I would only be worried if they ripped this from the headlines . . . "tv show host complains about being raped and murdered on tv and gets raped and murdered i.r.l.!!! zomg!"

Was the character on the show also a young, perky, conservative talk show host? Because if it's just the name that seems familiar, it really might just be a coincidence.

and I am sure there are more than 2 Hasselbecks in Germany....bimbo. If Law and order really wanted to kill her, they would have made the character a talk show host.
