Darren meets Joanne on J-date. They go out for a lovely dinner at the China Grill. Joanne offers to split the bill, but Darren says he'll pay for it. At some point, Darren realizes that Joanne is not all that in to him...so what does he do? Chalk it up to a bad date and move on?

Oh, you don't know Darren Sherman, do you?

Darren threatens her with a summons in order to recoup her half of the meal, calls Joanne's voicemail again and again, calls her office, calls the restaurant and generally freaks out over his 50$. Fortunately, Joanne is awesome, and saves the voice/e-mails and posts them on the internet.

That is so, so hot. I wish I could meet a guy with the balls to demand what he deserves like that.

And to be so persistently creepy and weird.

Okay, I'm not proud. I listened to the voicemails; I'll admit it.

And . . . Wow.

Bwahaha!

^ undoubitly. paying for the whole dinner AFTER she offered to go halves is financial suicide; the desperate last plight to impress the girl before she turns you down. *sighs* you hate to see it happen...

I always go by the rule that "you ask, you pay"...meaning...if I make the plans & set everything up...I intend to pay. If she does all the planning & the asking...I expect her to pay...though I always bring more than enough money to cover just in case she doesn't have the same theory.

I also don't insist on paying. I offer...because it's the gentlemanly thing to do. It's a nice, polite gesture. If she insists on splitting, I have no problem with honoring the request.

Darren Sherman, however, is creepy.

I love how the restaurant gives her free stuff for putting up with this guy, basically. You know if he tried to get legal with it, everyone would just laugh in his face.

I loved it!

I finally got through to the link, and believe me DD, your Jeebus doesn't have anything to do with this. wink
Now it seems to me Mr. Sherman was very reasonable throughout all of this. He even gave her a $10 discount on the meal! What a mensch. Now if she's going to lead him on, and be all like, "maybe there'll be a second date" and then not call? How could he not take legal action? Truly, I think this is a case for Judge Judy!
