In the ranks of great DJs worldwide we must acknowledge those brilliant artists who dont speak any English. Any list of seminal DJs must include DJ Krush. Krush started his career in the 1980s and by the early 90s he was already heralded as one of the greats. His most recent project is Stepping Stones The Self-Remixed Best, a two disc set. One disc called Lyricism and features collaborations with MCs. The second disc is called Soundscapes and contains remixes of instrumental pieces. This interview...
I like the Dylan-esque quality to his photo. It makes me think of this one time when I went to the Cowboy Boot store in the Village (the name of this store, anybody?) and the clerk had on a t-shirt that had a drum machine and text that referred to Woody Guthrie, reading "This Machine Kills Fascists." I'm liking the neo-folk consciousness of some of these electronic guys.
krush!! i love you brother!!! YOUR MUSIC IS DA BOMB!! DA REAL BOMB!! NOT DA SHIT THAT KILLS BROTHERS!! THE KIND THA ELIGHTENS THEM..YA KNOW?? ALLTHE ABSTRACT CATS..MURDER OF SOULS!!..tell em again to STOP!! KRUSH!! STOP NOW!!
I got sloppy drunk and a Krush show recently at the Commodore. I lost hearing because I was so close to the stage but I can't remember the last time I busted out that hard on a dancefloor.
Krush is a legend. Have to thank him and his beats for introducing me to hip-hop culture altogether. Looks like he's about to drop another gem, keep it coming my man. (Fingers crossed for a transition remix on the first disc).
