After sporting a gastric band for almost seven years, Sharon Osbourne announced she plans to remove the device in December. Osbourne claimed the band helped her lose over 125 pounds, but failed to help with the mental issues surrounding her weight. She decided to start psychotherapy to cope with her weight issues.

"I have to figure out why I do what I do to myself," the 54-year-old wife/manager of rocker Ozzy Osbourne says in an interview in People magazine's Oct. 30 issue. "I think I have some sort of self-destruction button."

Osbourne struggled with her weight this year, gaining almost 15 pounds from overeating. Although the band limits the amount of food she can digest, Sharon found ways around it.

"I keep trying to eat more and more ... I'm a pig," says Osbourne, who has indulged in "chocolate, French fries and junk food" instead of sticking to the nutritious diet required of gastric-band patients.

What happens when she eats too much? "You throw up...then you eat more," she says.

Osbourne maintained an upbeat attitude with help from her three children, Aimee, Kelly, and Jack.

"My kids, their whole life, have seen me struggle with weight," she says. "They say, `Now you need to spend time on your head.'"

oh, kelly's haircut sucks and the makeup is horribly overdone but i dont thinks she looks fat in that photo.

Ozzfest incident

At Iron Maiden's last Ozzfest performance (August 20th 2005 at the Hyundai Pavilion at Glen Helen in San Bernardino, CA), the band's sound was turned off several times, eggs were thrown towards the stage, and chants of "Ozzy" were shouted through the PA system. This was the work of Sharon Osbourne, who took to the stage and proceeded to call Bruce Dickinson "a prick" after they performed their encore, followed by a large portion of the crowd booing her off the stage. She officially admitted this in a scathing letter, accusing Bruce of heckling her husband and signing it "The Real Iron Maiden", although claiming not to have any personal vendetta against the band.
