I was gonna post this as a news story, but it's moving way too fast.

Stephen Colbert announced he was auctioning off the portrait of himself that hangs above the mantle in his studio to commemorate the one year anniversary of his show.

The auction went live at 12am EST on Wednesday. Half an hour later, it's reached over $500,000. All proceeds are going to the Save The Children charity. There are 9 days left in the auction.

The man is unstoppable.

Looks like it petered out at $600,100. That was still pretty crazy seeing it grow like that over less than an hour.

He couldn't do it without you, the heroes.

Just shy of $100M for Save The Children? I'd say the tops getting the Hungarian bridge named after himself.

How do you know it's not some very very rich person bidding on it, like Ted Turner?

Maybe Save the Children can use the money to help get the US goverment to ratify the United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child.. they're the only country in the world that hasn't. It was them and Somalia.. but Somalia recently ratified.
