Mine was the first time I visited my relatives in France. I met my grandfather in Arcachon. He used to take me out for daily walks along the beach, where I got to eat the best soft serve ice cream EVER. It was the first time I ever got to breathe in fresh sea air.

Sounds exactly like my Sunday mornings as a kid, except we served orange juice. I quit being an altar boy when I found out that all the donuts were usually gone by the time I was finished. (I was fine with the molestation wink )

Mine is going to stay with my grandmother in east Tennessee every summer. She was the funniest person ever. The town was like Mayberry. White picket fences every where, ponds, woods, kudzu mazes, houses every one (under the age of 13) swore were haunted. It felt like I was getting to be Tom Sawyer for a month.

he did...the bastard

i still like the idea of shiny disposable dresses tho wink

Going to the carnival with my brother and parents when I was 8 or so. My dad had been a carnie when he was in his teens, and knew what games were rigged, so we only played the games that we knew would end up with one of us as the winner.

My grandmother waking us up when it was still dark outside to get ready to go fishing. We'd be in the truck, asleep again, by the time they got the boat loaded up. She'd usually heat up a cinammon roll for us to eat in the truck on the way, and then we'd stop at a gas station to get snacks while we were on the water. When we were out on the boat, we had to be real quiet, otherwise we'd 'scare the fish'

I really miss those fishing trips.

I remember going to the beach in Florida with my folks, and my dad would pretend to be Leatherhead from the Ninja Turtles, which consisted in him doing a hilarious Cajun accent, and he would chase my little brother and me around in the water and try to grab us and dunk us. Then we'd bodysurf and scratch up our bellies and go sit on the beach and eat cherries and spit the stones.

Aww man.

Going to my grandparents' house in Chincoteague, VA in the summer. We'd play on the beach all day...swimming & body surfing...we'd look at the wild ponies...we'd visit the NASA museum. They also had the coolest hippy neighbors. Looking back on it now...my grandparents probably sent us over to the neighbors for a little while when they needed a break from us...but we didn't know any better....they neighbors were cool. They let us call them by their first names and let us play in their garage.

Those were good times.

Any time spent with my grandfather. I swear the man could walk on water.
