Seems odd that they keep saying it's close to Rockefeller Center. It's not.

Yeah, I don't get that either.

It's probably 'cos the rest of us in the backwoods have heard of Rockefeller Center.

Seriously. That's my best guess. Makes people pay more attention, or something.

Check out ESPN.com. Apparently the plane was piloted by a Yankee player, Corey Lidle.

Is now really the time to be a smart ass??? Multiple people are dead and you're still doing the "me first" shit.

Lidle always did like to pitch inside.

Yes, I know, I'm going to hell.

It really is a shame. They did a feature on him last February (when he was still with the Phillies) with him flying around down in Florida during spring training. He seemed so obviously passionate about flying, and so very careful about everything.

It's just sad.

he's not being a smart ass, he's just expecting people to read the whole page of the thread before posting the same thing over and over again.

It's also not close to the Hudson River, right? It's the East River isn't it?

I guess Lidle radioed in that they were having a fuel line problem and were trying to fly back to the airport.

He's also been around SG long enough to know that just isn't going to happen...and it's only going to come off as being a dick.

To get back on topic...this sucks.

it was weird today when a co-worker first told me about it and i commented that it was most likely a private plane. my perception from the past few years (when i was living in the area) is that we have a lot of private plane crashes in NY and NJ.
