A general aviation plane has reportedly crashed into a New York high rise.

An aircraft has crashed into the middle of a brick highrise residential building on Manhattan's Upper East Side at 72nd Street and York Avenue, police officials said.

The building is located near Rockefeller Center and is very close to the Hudson River.

There is no word yet on casualties.

I don't think it really matters why it happened.

Though, admittedly, a new terrorist attack (however small) could potentially have a drastic effect on the results of the upcoming elections.

yeah, i cant even imagine how it would be to be a new yorker and see an aircraft go into a building now, even though this one doesnt seem to be terrorist related.

If its a terrorist attack, it just goes to show how badly OBL and the Islamo-facists wan t the Democrat Party towin.

Sorry for the terrible spelling. I was trying to type like a conservative.

Understand, this is fucked. Thinking about the politics of it right now is inappropriate anyway.

I'm just of the mind that loss of life is loss of life, and cause of death is generally unimportant unless it's indicative of an enduring and avoidable threat that was previously unknown or, more likely, unacknowledged.

Whether terrorist, pilot error, or faulty aircraft, the results are indistinguishable from each other.

Hmmm,... country attacked again by Al Qaida, or ...

Bah! - same difference!

Seems odd that they keep saying it's close to Rockefeller Center. It's not.

I think that a possible terrorist attack would qualify in your criteria for "important". The results of an accident are grief. The results of an attack include fear, hate, rage, and often military retaliation, causing even more loss of life. A signifigant difference.

The bullshit is already flying. They say it's fixed wing, but they have no communication with any plane, so how the shit do they know? They're feeding us lies already.

At what point after 9/11 did we stop fearing, hating, raging, and being at war?

I don't understand your issue. "Fixed wing" just means "not a helicopter" (or rotary wing). I don't know how they would communicate with a plane that has crashed and exploded. What do you claim the lie is?

There was some confusion as to if it was a helicopter or a small plane according to MSNBC. They're only going by eyewitness accounts as far as I can tell right now. I haven't seen anyone being interviewed that was in communication with a troubled aircraft. Again I'm nto sure what the "lie" is. People seem to be trying to make out what it was they saw in the sky.

I was just about to post this. Eyewitnesses had somewhat differing accounts on the type of craft, and the report is just confirming it wasn't a helicopter.

it was a small plane.
i posted this in the current events section. i would like to re-post it here:
it's amazing to watch the differences in reporting tactics.
NY1 is very upfront and practical. emphasis on information as it's made available.
FOX is insane and emphasizes things like fighter jets and the possibilities of terrorists repeatedly. "this does NOT rule the possibility that this is a terrorist plot"
CNN is worse than FOX. they kept mentioning "panic" that isn't actually happening. and shows the fire before it was put out. terror is still not ruled out!
i do believe the definition of terror is the ability to cause fear and panic.
well done FOX.
well done CNN.

Apparently, it was Corey Lidle's (Yankees pitcher) plane, and he was one of those killed.

Now CNN is saying the plane is registered to N.Y. Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle, and emphasizing that the Yankees were recently eliminated in the playoffs.
