Rather than just being content to be the subject of the worst mug-shot of all time, Nick Nolte felt the need to defend it.

Police arrested Nolte in 2002 after they spotted him driving erratically on Californias Pacific Coast Highway. The arresting officer described Nolte as "drooling" and "completely out of it." Prosecutors later charged him with driving while intoxicated. Nolte copped to being high on GHB, claiming he accidentally consumed the date rape drug along with his diet supplements. The result of the drugs was a mug shot showing Nolte looking more than a bit disheveled. Nolte now has an explanation for his appearance at the time.

"A lot of people think I'm insane," the screen star told Steppin' Out's Chaunce Hayden. "And that drunk-driving photo of me doesn't help. But what a lot of people don't know is that I had just finished filming The Hulk. That's the hair I had from the movie! I just finished the film and that's the way the hairdresser did my hair."

I felt more sympathy when I thought he was just high.

Apparently he was dosed with GHB - he had to have gotten dressed to go somewhere that he could have been date raped. The question of who would date rape a man wearing that shirt then arises?
