Freak Show on Comedy Central

Wow. This show kinda sucks.

After the best South Park lead-in ever... THIS?! Lame.

Maybe I'm just not getting it or something but the pilot really wasn't enjoyable in any way.

That's too bad.

But not really...

Now I don't have to watch it.

The South Park season premiere was seriously fucking hysterical though.

What is it with all the bad animated series that keep coming out? Freak Show blew. And over on Adult Swim, there was a huge build-up for the series premires of Squidbillies, 12 oz. Mouse, and Metalpocalyse. They all sucked worse than my ex, and should never have gotten a green-light in the first place.

I'll admit that the animation on Metalocalypse is very well done. But I just can't get into it. Sure, the random, gruesome deaths are mildly amusing, but the rest of the show blows. Pretty animation does not always a good show make.

Maybe it's the fact that I never got the whole "death metal" thing. People screeching and screaming unintelligably set to distorted guitars and drum sets with entirely too many cymbals doesn't exactly blow up my skirt. So, yeah, I'm biased as hell. Maybe if I my wardrobe consisted entirely of Slayer and Slipknot shirts, black jeans and combat boots, I'd find it funnier.

Something tells me you're slightly conservative.

The best part of Metalocalypse is the songs. If you can't understand what they're saying and don't use captions on your TV (I do, because reading TV's as good as reading a book, right?), then you're missing out.

Only when it comes to music. To each their own. Looking back, I did come off as rather judgemental and surly in that last response.

What she said. And the only highlight of the freak show, for me, was that I recognized H. Jon Benjamin as one of the voices.

yeah, i was insanely disappointed by Freak Show, but wasn't expecting anything. it just LOOKED bad, and as much as i adore some of the voice actors (David Cross, Jon Benjamin, Will Arnett), it just...wasn't good. i didn't laugh or even smile once (but at least it didn't make me groan in physical pain and run screaming for the remote like i do when crap like, say, Drawn Together or Minoriteam or something comes on).

and i have mad love for the Metalocalypse. while not every episode is completely ROFL-funny, there are always parts that make me laugh, so all hail Brendon Small and whatnot!! i don't even like metal, it's a very silly type of music and metal fans are very silly, nerdy people (don't even bother arguing, all my metalhead friends KNOW they're nerds). but the songs are well-written and always funny. the main complaint i hear about the show is that the dialogue and song lyrics can be tough to catch, to which i say: it's a good thing the show is really rewatchable.
