HOEGAARDEN? WHAT THE EFF?! (a.k.a. an interlude)

Sorry kids, I'm hell of poor this week and therefore couldn't afford any questionable deliciousness. This whole not-having-a-great-job thing kind of blows.

HOWEVER! I can give you this, which is kind-of-sort-of related to the thread. In a way.

A few dear acquaintances of mine have banded together over the past year or so to make a movie called The Adventures of Jay and Big Russ. I assure you, it is going to be preposterous, as low-budget movies cast entirely with the director's friends usually are. There's this recurring catchphrase that we found hilarious while filming, and it involves a really miserable beer called Hoegaarden Witbier. This particular abomination hails from Flanders, where people are called Flemish, and apparently it is "special" because it's unfiltered and filled with chunks of active yeast and wheat and orange rind that all look and feel, unsurprisingly, a little bit like phlegm. Yum. The entire brewery burned down in 1985, which should have been a sign, but the Flemish are a determined lot, which is good for us because the name of their wheat beer makes a good joke.

Anyway, I have a single line in the movie, and it directly involves me having to drink this magical Hoegaarden backwash beer. We did about five billion takes, and by the time we were done I had a 102º fever. I partly blame the Hoegaarden. Nevertheless, much to my delight, part of my line actually made it into the official trailer, which they just released today. It's toward the end, so go ahead and watch the whole thing okay? Okay.

I'm probably going to regret posting this later on, but Sammy says the publicity will be excellent. Of course, he also said he's wearing a paper bag over his head to our premiere party.... whatever

I like how they edited out the end of your line. For television purposes no doubt.

A couple of those scenes look like they were filmed at Top of the Park. Yes, no, maybe? And the fact that I recognize that place does not make me gay. blush

Ahh, an astute one! wink

Yeah, Jay's mom is a bartender at The Inn downstairs, and I guess she got us access to the space and the equipment for a day as long as we brought our own drinks. It was pretty groovy.

Hoegaarden. I love the fore mentioned beverage. Other the orange it contains coriander flavourings. I find it a great, its Sunday afternoon, and we are relaxing in the sun, beer.
To be eaten with frite and mayonnaise.
