I could really use your help on this! Help me win $10,000 by voting for my video at http://www.windblows.us/index.php . My video is called 'I Like Wind'. The site is a wind power company and they have a competition for a video about wind, the one with the most votes will win $10,000. You can tell I put a lot of effort into my video, I think it looks very professional smile

So far I have 1 vote. I only need about 200 more to get into the lead!

Not to be as cynical as I am or anything, but I can't help agreeing. I'd vote in a second for a little share of the cash, but I'm not going to join in on a competition about which I know nothing and in which I have no interest simply because the competitor is a fellow SG member.

Hey, how about if next time I go looking for a job you act as a refference for me even though you don't know me? Wouldn't that be cool? You could help me make a living!

P.s.
In my life 10,000 dollars is almost more than I can wrap my brain around. It's difficult for me to sympathize with the frustration felt if the OP doesn't win.

These aren't the classified ads y'know.

Jeez, calm down. It's just a stupid online competition.

In my life 50 dollars is more than I can "wrap my brain around". You have no idea how hard my life is. There will be no frustration felt by me, it's just a competion which I entered for the hell of it.

Hey, how about if next time I go looking for a job you act as a refference for me even though you don't know me?

How about you lose the fucking attitude problem?

It costs me nothing? Then certainly, sir.

Now then, I can't remember whether you assisted in my recent appeal to win a much more modest sum.... wink

I don't really think that this is a relevant comparison. If you wrote a reference for a person you didn't know, it would be odd because you aren't able to say what that person is like as an employee. If, however, you visit the link provided and view the videos, then you will quite legitimately be able to say which you think is best.

I'm sure Pete_Noir will understand if you don't like his video and would prefer to vote for someone else. But I'm sure there's nothing wrong with a competitor drawing our attention to a competition and asking us to give it our consideration - no-one's going to vote at all if they don't know the competition even exists. whatever

I'm good at that. Isn't it nice to have a talent? I can play piano, too!

I take the point, though. I probably should try to be nicer.

Okay, sorry for being an ass.

I'm very tired of seeing all the threads just begging for votes on this or that and I took it out on you.

It still irritates me, but I should really just butt out and leave you alone or at least make my response much more mild. If I want to play internet crusader there are other threads much more deserving (not to be mentioned here, or hopefully anywhere else).

Again, I'm sorry about that. I just get grumpy sometimes.

Hey! I'm moving house at the end of this month and what with having to pay a deposit on top of a month in advance, well, I'm kind of short.... blush

Why should anyone vote for you, when other people actually put effort into their videos? How would you like it if you cared about wind power and tried to make a nice video and lost to someone else because they got a bunch of people on a website to vote for them for no reason?

Wait.... wait.... Can we all take a minute here and say this out loud with me? "WHAT THE FUCK?!"

Am I the only one that remembers that guy with his friend (it wasn't even HIM) in that "golf cart gal' compitition? EVERYONE was voting for her. Not one person, unless jokingly, asked for compinsation for his or her vote.

So, this leads me to think that since that was voting for a girl we'll all be hella cool and help her out. Who cares if she's the daughter of Mr. I-make-shit-tons-of-money it's a GIRL!!! But when this guy who DOES need the money we all want a piece? SCREW THAT!

Pete, I'm voting for you I don't give a damn if your video is awful or amazing, you're part of a community here and I'm going to back you.

I didn't vote for her. I voted for the other much hotter brunette and continued to do so throughout the competition and persuaded others to do the same. I also did ask for compensation to change my vote.

Alright my mistake, you and a handful of others voted for her. But my main point remains.

I remember people every day sayin 'VOTED!' and having a great time with it, and I've got no issuse with that. It's just when this guy asks for a few votes, and does so nicely, he gets laughed at.

The juxtaposition of text with the noirish use of lighting and the brillaint kubricky pacing in the presentation of the message... well I'm speachless, you my friend have gotten yourself one more vote biggrin Anyone who doesn't vote for this probably "doesn't get it".

+1

if you're so desperate for money, i'd think you'd try a little harder.
i don't mind voting for peoples' cats and such, but it's different when the other contestants actually put effort into it, and there's more than a free t-shirt at stake.

It might remain, but that doesn't mean it's correct. This isn't the first time a guy has started a thread like this, and I bet they got decent results. This one is just a bit much.
