Man I love this job! After three long years of wooing I finally got a chance to talk with the legendary comedian Al Franken. After many successful years as a standup comedian and Saturday Night Live writer, Franken has released a number of hysterical and popular books such as Why Not Me? and Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot. When Franken released Lies and the Lying Liars in 2004, esteemed filmmakers Nick Doob and Chris Hegedus followed and him and documented the experience. Now it’s all been put together...

We need AL! I never really followed Al much, and never listened to Air America. Then one day I saw a vid clip and realized that I could probably get more information from him or his books than I could with the sanitized media coverage. That lead to reading all of his books. I'm not saying in Al I trust, but I'm saying that with Al's questioning and honesty in Al "I trust more".
He certainly has reinforced my notions that we never see things like we should, and that we need to have a better view on how things are, not how we're told they are. I learned long ago when I was overseas to relay on non US based sources for a fuller picture. I rely on Al to keep all those that cross his path to stay on their toes.
Thanks for the interview SG, you made my morning.

He better run against Norm Coleman. I'd stay in Minnesota for that...

I know it only marginally, tangentially has anything to do with this interview, but I never miss a chance to post this...

Stewart Saves His Family was probably the most compelling political docu-drama of the 20th century. I can't believe what an accurate description it gave of our current quagmire in the mid-east.

I loved Al on the old old SNLs when I was in my early to mid-teens and went to see Al Franken & Tom Davis open for the Grateful Dead - they were great. As are his books.

Can't wait fo the film. And he should run for office.

+1. That's a pretty low bar though. I met Al once. He's really nice. Charming & funny too.
