sense of humour about death. fine. why she was talking about Christopher Reeves at all baffles me. I'd quite like to see the family and friends he left behind 'accidentally' knock her the f*ck out. And talking of accidents, which stylist 'accidentally' told her that making your hair look like Nanna's wig looked good? Oh no, that one is her fault. whatever

Agreed. Sometimes people make horrible mistakes, but it shouldn't make you a monster for pointing out that they made a mistake.

Even if there's truth in what she said, why say it? What purpose does it serve? Is she so certain that she will never have a brain fart or get distracted by a sneeze when riding a horse?

now what purpose does " Is she so certain that she will never have a brain fart or get distracted by a sneeze when riding a horse?" serve?

if she wants to talks about baboons' asses and someone wants to listen to her then it's the listener's own fault for listening.

maybe her advice on proper sitting posture will save the life of millions of prospective riders around the world. probable? not. possible? perhaps

Umm...I competitively rode horses for 15 years...And even if you're sitting "correctly" in the saddle and you have a relationship with your horse and the horse is well trained, shit still happens.

What a dumbshit. If she really has been riding for that long, she should know that horse back riding is like the most unpredictable sport EVER.

same here. i dont know how many people have ever watched a show jumping competition on tv (like... at the olympics), but those riders occassionally fall off or get thrown off. no matter "how well trained" your horse is or if you've been riding your entire life, you can still fall off. horses are animals that can get spooked easily by the wrong noise or sight. even the most trained of showjumping horses will still balk at jumps.

why should she even bring this up? i dont think anyone was suggesting that he didnt put himself in a potentially dangerous situation that has a calculated amount of risk. he helped bring attention and funding to spinal injury research. sheesh. what a jerk.

Exactly.

Why on earth mention Christopher Reeve as an example? There's no real need for her to say stuff like that.

And the royal bitch award goes to....Kelly Carlson!!! Shit happens with horses, its a fact of life. The horse wasn't untrained, it got spooked, he fell in the worst possible way possible. Thats horses for ya.

Yeah, but it does make you a dick for pointing out a mistake:
A) That you have no idea was actually a mistake. By all accounts, the guy had tons of experience with horses (and anyone who has been around horses knows that what she said is total bullshit--sometimes you fall off, and no amount of experience can prevent it...how many jockeys have been hurt?)
B) that the person has already paid for. If I go to a bar, and some guy decides to beat the shit out of me for no reason, saying "Oh, you shouldn't have gone to that bar!" might not make you a monster, but it does mean you're a bit of an ass.

Of course it's her right to say what she wants, but it's also ok for everyone here to call her a dumbass for it. It shouldn't make us monsters for pointing out her "mistake."

No, but it sure does make you a bitch to second guess an accident that you didn't see that happened a decade ago. She wasn't offering any insight, she was being self important, touting her self as some sort of equestrienne. Riding since you were four doesn't mean you're an expert, it means you have rich parents.

Reeve was competing at the highest amateur levels in the heart of horse country. He rode against former olympians. He knew what he was doing.

I would reserve judgment on all of this short of a tape or at least witnesses. Chaunce Hayden is one of the most notorious liars in celebrity journalism.

But what fun would that be? Carry on.

(not to mention having cribbed interviews from other sources (sources who provide interviews to this very web site) and claiming them as his own)

Apparently this is in the yet-to-be-published issue of Steppin' Out. The current week's interview is either with Simona Fusco or Emmy Rossum. And I looked through the back issues without finding this particular gem.

However, regarding her expertise and horsemanship, and Christopher Reeve's screwup, can you say "pot, meet kettle." From another current interview in Stuff Magazine:

Q: You are down with equestrian action. Have you ever taken a spill?
A: Sure. My horse, Maggie, and I flipped over a fence once. I went over her head. I remember lying on the ground and looking up and being like, Please, don't step on me. I was fine.

I guess she must not have had her hips line up properly, or something ...
Good thing she wasn't paralyzed.

whatever
