In what I guess was an attempt to promote the upcoming fourth season of her television show, Nip/Tuck, Kelly Carlson gave a few shocking quotes to Chaunce Hayden about, of all things, Christopher Reeve. She prefaced her quote by saying, "OK, this is going to offend people," which makes anything horrible and uncouth she’s about to say perfectly ok. That’s the rule, you know.

"OK, this is going to offend people," Carlson told Steppin Out's Chaunce Hayden. "I love Christopher Reeve . . . But it was more his fault. When you're jumping a horse, 99.9 per cent of the time it's your fault . . . You never take a horse over a fence unless your horse is totally trained to do it, and you have a relationship with the horse. It's all about trust . . . You have to have your hip bone and heel bone in a straight line up and down. If you don't, you'll go over the horse's head . . . Chris probably wasn't sitting right in the saddle. That's the only reason why you fall off."

Wow.

Kelly "Horse Expert" Carlson.

Who'd've thunkit?

That horse, or the ground he fell on, must've been made of kryptonite.

Hve a humour about death, folks. We're all gonna die one day, might as well get a chuckle out of how people go down.

Tragedy? Sure. But why sit around a be pissy about it?

Kelly's entitled to her opinion as much as anyone else.

"But she's on TV!!!"

So?

You're not on TV. smile

I'm too hungover to be making points. mad This post is OVER! Get outta my office!

why does everyone assume she's stupid from one quote taken out of context? she's been riding horses for 26 years, perhaps she knows what she's talking about.

Maybe in ten years she'll make the astute observation that it wasn't the stingray's fault that killed Steve Irwin. whatever

How the hell did it come up in conversation about a current TV show? That's a weird random thing to just blurt out.

It's sad, but yeah, it was his fault. Just like any other athelete who gets hurt pursuing a risky sport they love. I don't think it's necessary to attack a dead guy's skill level though. Accidents are bound to happen in dangerous sports. I think it makes Reeve more of a badass that he went all out and pushed himself in his given sport. He knew the risks involved and competed anyway.
