Have you been desperately searching for an excuse not to marry your baby momma? Well, Brad Pitt came up with the perfect excuse. When asked by Esquire magazine when he will marry Angelina Jolie, Pitt thought of a very snappy retort. He claimed they will not get married until gay couples in America enjoy the same marriage rights as straight couples.
"Angie and I will consider tying the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able," the 42-year-old actor reveals in Esquire magazine's October issue, on newsstands Sept. 19.
Pitt said he adores his new family; Jolie gave birth to their daughter Shiloh Nouvel last May, and Pitt legally adopted Jolies other two children, Maddox and Zahara. The actor claimed he "cannot imagine life" without the children.
"They're as much of my blood as any natural born, and I'm theirs," says Pitt. "That's all I can say about it. I can't live without them. So: Anyone considering (adoption), that's my vote."

This sounds like a lowest-common-denominator, heterocentric, middle-class response dismissing Pitt's statement as some kind of excuse to get out of his "duty" to marry his girlfriend. But what's with the cynicism here? This is a site that at least at one point was supposed to represent society's underappreciated and underrepresented people and viewpoints. I think this statement of his is laudable, and I'm gaining a new respect for Pitt on a daily basis for using his mega-celebrity status to make very public statements just like this latest one. Angelina is obviously rubbing off on him (yes, yes). Good for him.
Oh and if the statement quoted above was meant to be "ironic" or "funny," then try again. How about try some real commentary instead of being snide for the sake of gaining some coolness points?
And yeah, don't bother telling me to leave the site if I don't like it, because I will be anyway.

i know thats a joke (about your fear of commitment), but think about your comparison. youre comparing the marriage of two humans to the marriage of a man and {at best}, a different species. i know im quibling, but this is on my line of gay bashing. (not over, just on.)

I can't speak for anyone else, but my cynicism stems from the fact he was previously married and the lack of equal treatment for gay citizens didn't seem to be a factor then.
Still,it's better to have celebrities coming out in favour of gay rights than opposing them, so it's a wash i guess.
Y'know, If all the anti-gay Congressmen are as pro-family as they say they are, shouldn't they be legislating gay marriage into being just to make sure this happy family gets all legitimate?!?

Not to mention what a shitty way he ended his last marriage. I don't exactly hold Brad Pitt up as the paragon of relationship maturity.
Well, it's hard to take this story at face value, since all kinds of stories are circulating that that relationship is on the rocks anyway. Though that is a nice spin on things.

It's a fucking story about an actor who isn't marrying another actor. How serious does the commentary need to be? It's not the fucking Watergate hearings.
