While mock documentaries about the assassination of George W. Bush probably wouldn't get made in the U.S., the British have no such reservations. Broadcaster Channel 4 will air a "shockingly real" film about the fictional sniper death of President Bush.
Death of a President, shot in the form of a documentary examining the assassination, will use a blend of archival footage and computer-generated special effects to portray Bush in October 2007 arriving in Chicago during an anti-war rally.
In the film, Bush is killed by a sniper, and the investigation quickly focuses on a Syrian-born man.
The White House hasnt commented on the film, but critics are already taking the bait, calling the movie tasteless and appalling.
...A senior Republican Party official said: "It sounds like its in very poor taste and in keeping with the tactics of liberal groups who have frequently tried to compare the president to Hitler and his policies to those of fascism.
Channel 4 executive Peter Dale defends the movie, saying its a thought-provoking, sophisticated work that is meant to spur debate.
Death of a President will debut at the Toronto Film Festival before airing on Channel 4 in October. Director Gabriel Range says he hopes the film will eventually air in the U.S. Good luck with that.

Christ... that movie sounds better than porn! Even if not shown in the US, expect to see it widely distributed on the pirate / file sharing circuit.
I sense Youtube seeing a Lawsuit over just that idea.

you guys do realize that if bush gets killed cheney becomes president, right?
This is true... but then he'd be the most scared man on the planet, knowing they have the range dialed in. That kind of stress can't be good on a heart like his.

What, he has shots of God giving Budda a reach-around or something? Goddamn cell phone cameras!!!
As much as i'm against the current administration, this movie sounds like it will do a very good job of making liberals look like idiots, as if Michael Moore isnt enough.
But hey, whatever. Maybe i'm wrong. I just wish it could be 2008 already.

who said anything
about "liberals" being
behind this movie?
i love how it is
suddenly a case of the
evil liberals.
well, leave it to the
republicans to turn this
political, natch.

It all depends on how well the movie is made and how liberals handle it. Seeing as how it's not really a US political issue for elected officials.

But i'm hoping you were being sarcastic anyway.
no, i'm not being
sarcastic. what made you think
that i was? come on.
it's careless to state,
baselessly, that libs endorse
the movie's "message":

But dont you see? There are liberals who do endorse the movies "message" (kudos for putting that in quotes, by the way), even if there are very few, and even if you or i arent among them. Some of the comments made on this thread are proof of that.
And maybe i'm missing something, but i dont really see how someone can speak about politics without turning it political.

the only libs i
see endorsing it are the
posters in this thread.
they're definitely
not representative of
all us liberals.
take their comments with
a grain of salt, because that's
all they're worth, ya know?
the movie has a
political message, but
it's a different kind.
i really doubt that
it's point is to polarize
US politics.
It's a pointed political examination of what the war on terror is doing to the American body politic," said More4 boss Peter Dale at a press conference on Thursday.
Promotional materials described the program as "a thought-provoking critique of the contemporary U.S. political landscape."
Dale acknowledged that the program will be controversial, but maintained that it was a sophisticated work meant to spur debate.
"I'm sure there will be people upset by it," he said. "I hope people will see the intention as a good one."
He denied accusations of sensationalism. "The film is based on meticulous research and interviews with FBI agents and people on the other side of the War on Terror. It is a serious and sensitive film. There is no way that it would encourage anyone to assassinate Bush and usher in Cheney's America."
looks like a lot more
complicated than lefty
propoganda, no?
i just think it's dumb
to play the old "liberal
media" card, 'kay?
