A treasure in the worlds of art history and dorm room decoration, Edvard Munch's famous 1893 painting The Scream has been recovered, after being stolen from the Munch Museum in Oslo in 2004.

photo location

Three people were found guilty of the crime earlier this year, but Norwegian police claim the convicted men did not offer up any information leading to the discovery of both The Scream and Madonna.

The only question that remains now is what the chief of Oslo police is going to do with 2 million M&M's...

I'd be willing to take it off their hands for them. You know, "hold on to them" until they figure out what to do with them. Plus they would look nice on someone else's wall because I'd charge millions to other people to "hold on to them" for me.

I'm glad to see they got it back. Hopefully, it won't get stolen AGAIN. Art thieves have a major boner for "The Scream". I actually read a book a couple of months ago about one of the previous "Scream" thefts, when it got pinched in 1994 during the Winter Olympics. Its called The Rescue Artist by Edward Dolnick, and its a really good book. So good I just had to jump in this thread and plug it.

Yeah, that's really the first thing I noticed about it just now - how the face seems so detailed and marvelous, and the progress to the blurry generalities.

I'm glad it is safe. I've never seen it before, but I think it just became one of my favorite pieces of art...

I just worried because it is painted on corrugated cardboard and could be easily damaged.
