I've got a few

I collect 1:18 scale die cast car replicas. These aren't toys but "collectibles" ranging from $50 to $200 in price, and some have appreciated to up to $500. Currently I have 52 1:18's in my collection which would be enough to fill one of those specialty stores in the mall. I estimate my collection's worth at $5000.

I also collect "b" movies, especially about cars. I think I own just about every great car movie ever made
-bullitt
-two lane blacktop
-gone in 60 sec (1974)
-grand prix (remastered edition)
-ronin
-vanishing point

if i'm missing something important here tell me

I collect CD's of course but not based on their value, just the ones I like. I'm not a downloader, even though I have an ipod all the music on there comes from CD's that I already own.

and finally, i collect betta fish. Well I "keep" and care and nurture for my betta fish.

So what are your collections?

I like boxes. Little boxes. Ceramic, wood, it doesn't matter. Just that they be pretty. It's really the only thing I can think of that I 'collect'

Oh, and books. I got me some books.

Depends on how you define "collect". I acquire and keep many things, but I don't keep anything in "collectable" condition. I've got a toy collection. A stuffed monkey collection (and a couple of other animals, but definately favoring the primates).

And I've got a huge porn collection. That one I'd call a collection, because there will never be enough time in my life to go through all the pictures I have and sort them into categories, let alone "make use" of all of it, so it's a definite collectors vibe more than anything else driving me to get new stuff.

Through the years I've collected at one time or another comic books , baseball cards , Magic cards , a lot of D&D type gaming stuff in general . Right now I have over 1000 cd's & have gotten into D&D miniatures . When I was gaming , I used to have a huge collection of lead figures , but these are a) plastic b) prepainted & c) collectible . Some of them are going for decent cash on EBay already . I guess I'm kind of reliving my geeky past through them biggrin

I've a Japanese puzzle box that I'm very fond of.

The small ones, with less than 15 moves to open, are surprisingly inexpensive.

I've a collection of old dictionaries. The 1922 concise oxford gets used the most, but it's often interesting to see how usages have changed. A couple are from the 19th century. Picked up from second hand book shops for peanuts.

Cheesy horror films, especially vampire ones. More cheese Igor, more cheese!

I have an affinity for dragons, or things with dragons on them.

I have a small collection of items pertaining to my astrological sign.

And I'm working on aquiring everything that my parents brought back from Japan when they left the Navy. I have most of my mom's stuff, but my dad is a bastard - not that he has much anymore as it is anyway.

I love those devil ducks!

noirkiss3 - I was in film studies and have collected a lot of old films and film posters (especially those witch include steve mcqueen). I can consider my McQueen poster collection an actual collection, but the rest is just whatever I see, that I like, I get. I'm not necessarily trying to get a complete set or go for value.

Dove - What do you do with the dead bugs after?

Roethke - Oh man, I have SO MUCH that you would absolutely love. First of all, I work in a medical office, and both my parents are in the medical field (my mom's a nurse, my dad's a pharmacist). We have stacks and stacks and stacks of old medical books, at work, and at home. In addition to that, drug reps (who come in to drop off samples and show doctors new products) quite often give us those big doctor's offices posters, yes, that include anatomy and stuff like that. So I have a freaking ton of those. As for keys, I have an ignition, door and tailgate key for a 1987 ford taurus wagon that I don't know where the hell it is. I have an old key for a dodge 440 enigne, although I may need that for a car restoration one day. I also have two keys to a '93 pontiac transsport, although I'm hesitent to give these up because for some reason these two keys will open up any old honda, toyota or nissan AND start them (?)

And Rothke, I have some anatomy posters, too, mainly dealing with the GI tract since I work for a GI doctor. Shoot me a message if you are interested, I was about to throw them out, they are cluttering up my file room.

i put them in jars, or just around my room. that moth is currently living next to my aloe plant.

i used to have a butter tub filled with those locust shells when i was younger. i would go around and find them on trees and plants and collect them. my step-mom made me get rid of them because i kept sticking them on her clothes when she wasn't looking, though. it was a sad day. frown

No I'm the opposite of obsessive, or a collector or a packrat. I just don't like having a lot of stuff.
