Milwaukee residents like their hooch, according to Forbes magazine. The city came in first in a survey of the35 hardest-drinking cities in the U.S., beating out Austin and Las Vegas.

Forbes rated the cities on: state laws, number of drinkers, number of heavy drinkers, number of binge drinkers and alcoholism. Based on that criteria, Milwaukee residents are the nation’s lushes.

More than 70% of adult Milwaukeeans reported that they had had at least one alcoholic drink within the past 30 days--the highest percentage on our list. Twenty-two percent of Milwaukee respondents confessed to binge drinking, or having five or more drinks on one occasion--also the highest on our list. And 7.5% of the population were reported as heavy drinkers--adult men that have more than two drinks per day, or adult women who have more than one drink per day.

Ironic that when I really wanna go on a drunken bender I travel to Milwaukee. Good to know I have my priorities in order.

Personally I don't think 5 drinks is binge drinking; actually average.
Also Forbes is probably the worst source for this misinformation.
Ranking New Orleans 24 is proof of this.
People are very unlikely to tell the complete truth about something that is generally considered to be a vice.
Probably this list shows that Milwaukee drinkers are more honest, but I suspect that they are just braggarts.
But I guess I'm dealing with the idea that the news is news and y'all don't care if it's true. But if I had to live in Milwaukee I'm sure I'd want to drink even more than I do now.

Well, Wisconsin's liquor stores are open later than ours are. wink

Regardless: hell yes, MSP. Repre-fucking-sent.

Hey, though! What the hell am I doing sitting in St. Paul sober right now? What the eff is that?

It's all relative. The US is only the 25th drunkest country in the world. You guys have to get on the ball, and get rid of that whole drinking age thing; your numbers will improve dramatically. Living in a city where we drink the most beer in the world (it is cheaper than water, after all) I must agree with Princelogos, I don't think 5 drinks is binge drinking, we call it "Thursday". Cheers to Luxembourg!
