I should just point out that anyone who has trouble with "no worries" should not come to Australia. People here say "no worries" all the time.

I think the Suicide Girls name should change to Scientology Girls.
Instead of a free sample of naked girl pictures, we'd have a free personality test?

My ears are burning.
Oh, is Cracked still basically Mad Magazine but not quite as funny? And usually with even MORE old re-run material than Mad had?
I've got a couple of born-again nephews I really need to get subs to Mad for.
His career will be fine. As they say.. this too shall pass. For as long as I can remember, Tom Cruise has been a golden boy. Little or no flaws. He says/does a few things that could be classified as "silly" and nothing more.. and now he's a fucking lunatic or something?
I don't believe anything that he's done has been so dramatic as what its been made out to be. People are so critical and fickle. I'd never want to be a famous person living in the public eye and have every judgement or word out of my mouth scrutinized and my life dragged over hot coals.
How the mighty have fallen and how society always seems to love to break them down. Its what we always do, isn't it? Constantly focus on others' issues and judge them negatively so we can feel better about our own? Take a few little pimples and rub and poke them until they become nasty ole scars. I'm so tired of the negativety of seemingly everyone anymore.

No, its not shocking, but I don't see how that statement fits this scenario. Asshole? I must have missed the news about Tom beating his wife, wandering drunk in public, getting caught with a hooker or a head full of speedballs, grabbing some girl's ass, or beating the crap out of someone's car with a golf club. (But we all still love Jack, don't we?)
And is no reason given for the end of a partnership substantial? I mean.. its really none of our business.. despite obvious questions we must all have. Many of you must cry when couples divorce stating "irreconcileable differences." Cuz then you have considerably less fodder for your guns.
Lighten up, ya'll. Stop hating on everyone and every thing - every chance you get. I could post that statement in pretty much every thread in this forum..

Yes, and we've been saying it for a very long time now.
According to his profile he's from England (well he says Estonia, but lists his hometown as London - maybe he's working in Estonia or something), so he probably considers us Aussies to be an uncivilized bunch of savages anyway, the spawn of their own criminal class.
Yes i am British. That kinda shit (formalities) is in our blood.
I don't care if my buddies are informal with me, i do care if the teller at the bank is getting all casual and familiar. Also, i'm sure Australia is a fine country. Relax people.

You realize that we're different people...right? That people who get upset in one thread aren't the same as people who got upset in another? (With very few exceptions). The community isn't comprised of two groups: not you and you, there is a little bit more differentiation. Some people have a very small range of issues that set them off, and don't "hate on everyone," there just happen to be enough people on the website that the topics get well covered.
I understand, but its directed towards everyone I guess. This thread seemed like a good place to drop it, since its completely boggling my mind that people are so hostile towards an ACTOR, one's who's personal actions have not affected anyone's real lives in the slightest.. and who has hardly done anything assholish in their career, and really still hasn't. Ahh.. so much misplaced angst. There are other people you should hate so much!
Cuz the majority of threads contain like 80% negative responses. And the majority of those responses are just "fuck them - they suck/deserve it/etc" kind of posts (like most on page 1of this thread) with nothing thought provoking to back it up or to even try to explain their opinion. Or crap like this:

Why even read the thread if you care nothing about its subject matter? Even moreso.. why bother posting the useless fact of how you don't care? I mean.. that just makes no sense. Next time, atleast be funny. But its like you felt it necessary to post that as if someone specifically asked you.
Anyway.. when I read Quanta's first post, I was like "there ya go," but then he went nuts on that one dude after that and I was like... hmm.

Uh geez. I can't take anything in this thread nor on SG too seriouly, it's just not worth it. I took the opportunity to flex my logic muscle and to avoid making an emotional/personal attack on the freak, and stick to an issue. I think i was largely successful (perhaps not totally). It boggles my mind that you could read what i said and call it nuts. In fact it was a pretty dispassionate and highly logical statement. Although, it was lengthy, but as i say i was indulging myself and flexing my logic muscle. I took pleasure in constructing a solid argument. Not everything on SG has to be about the slick one liner.
Finally, peoples maturity level at times leaves much to be desired. Vestril did not ask you about me. Vestril asked you about you. So when someone asks you to defend something that YOU have said, please stick to what you said, bringing up what I said, when Vestril asked you about what you are claiming doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Oh and also Tura_Satana, you need to differentiate between who is having fun and who wants to be a little more serious. You have to get that some people in a thread just want to have a liitle fun or entertainment, which is why there will be comments like the one made by FridgeMagnet. However other times people will want to be a little more serious about the topic, like this time me, Vestril, thefreak, and some others who commented. There is room in the same thread for those who want to joke around, those who want to be sarcastic, those who are indeed negative and those who want to be serious.
I dunno, a lot of people build up a lot of frustration at the little things that go wrong in their (our, I suppose) lives. We need some sort of escape valve, something that we can be upset about that doesn't really matter so that there aren't any consequences when we blow up about it. Better calling Tom Cruse a cockstain than your prick of a boss, no?
Enjoying the guilty pleasure of seeing celebrities screw up or go nuts or face minor hurdles to their career (because Cruise couldn't possibly have a long and fulfilling life even if he never acted in another film again...right?) might be a way of letting that vindictive little animal in our chests loose for a while at the expense of someone who can't feel it and is doing pretty well anyway.

Sorry Quanta, I find a lot of British people are overly critical of the way Australians talk (or do anything for that matter), so I get a bit defensive. The expression 'no worries' is so familiar to me that it seems nearly as natural and proper to me as 'you're welcome'. Once again sorry for getting my back up on that.
And yes, I can agree with it being annoying when people who shouldn't be casual, start getting casual - for example newsreaders on the radio over here have started saying things such as "a guy in his late 20's has been charged with murder. The guy is suspected..." which is really, really annoying. Another example that annoys me is when car manufacturers over here recently started refering to air conditioning as 'air'. Their adds started sounding like "comes with five year warranty and free air". I mean free air con or free a/c I can stand, but 'free air' is the stupidest thing I have ever heard for obvious reasons. I guess the point is that we all have our pet dislikes when it comes to the way people speak, so I'm sorry for giving you a hard time about yours.
