Okay, I have a sitch, I'm addicted to the show Rescue Me with Denis Leary, I admit it to the public! My god, when I met my boyfriend of two years way back when the show had just begun and every night that show came on he would bound from his MMORPG and jump to the tele to flip on this dramatic show about fire fighters, I found it amusing that my big studdly metal head man was addicted to a soap opera for men ha ha! But then I started watching the show with him to figure out what it was that made him watch such a show rather than old re-runs of Headbangers Ball. Now I am an adict and those of you who haven't heard of it...well...you're missing out on some fucked up drama man, I mean it's got me begging for the newest episode at this point. We have downloaded all the seasons on our computer and I have just watched episode 11 or season three and Denis Leary's character Tommy Gavin, his brother Johnny, a cop, gets shot during a stake out at the end of the episode....the fucked up thing is....Tommy is in the middle of a divorce from his lovely wife Janet and Johnny, Tommy's borther, is bangin' Tommy's soon-to-be ex which was a great twist when Tommy discovered this fact and beat the living hell out of his brother. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_K3fqcsSwk Wqatch this clip!!!!!
So now I'm dying with anticipation because Janet (Tommy's wife that's bangin the cop brother) is pregnant and doesn't know for sure if the baby is her husbands or her husbands brothers child.....holy sheep shit Batman this just gets better and better! It's depraved and twisted and wrong and I just love it....so seriously check it out guys and tell me what you think about this incredibly well written show, everything that could possibly go wrong in a man's life occurs in this dramatic and dynamic show.

The show is going downhill...and fast. I've seen the same thing happen over and over and over with shows that I really liked.

Rescue Me started off with excellent writing. They built great characters...they had interesting story lines and put out a great product...and the show was successful.

THEN.....more people start sticking their fingers in the pie. Then...the strong characters they built...and the good story lines aren't enough. They want to "shake things up" a little. They start with celebirty cameos...then, bizarre (and pointless) plot twists...and finally...main characters start to sleep with controversial secondary characters.

All of this culminates into a series of "what can we do next?" episodes and the well-crafted characters are lost.

The show was about Tommy's personal demons. It was about Tommy dealing with the aftermath of 9/11, the death of his cousin Jimmy, his alcoholism and his inability to communicate with his wife.

Now...Tommy rarely talks to Jimmy anymore. They turned Garrity & Probie into slapstick comedy relief. Franco went from that cocky, arrogant playboy to a overly sensitive emo-boy. Lou has gone from the wise-cracking line-officer to a sideshow of dating a hooker, boozing himself to near death and now he's doing Yoga & thinking about retirement.

There are still moments of brilliance in the show...but mark my words...the shark is ready to jump.

the only thing going downhill is Tommy's life. The show is at an all time high.

Season one of Rescue Me was okay (although damn, did they do a shitty job of ripping off the ending of the first season of The Shield), but it totally went off the fucking rails during season two. Between the unbelievable amount of gay panic and the shift from semi-realistic plotlines to an Entourage level of male wish fulfillment, I don't regret skipping season three.
