A film about late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence won't include Kate Moss, if Hutchences brother Rhett has his way. Rhett is a co-producer of Slide Away, a biopic about the singer who died in 1997 from either suicide or autoerotic asphyxiation.
Moss is reportedly being considered to play Paula Yates, Hutchence's former lover (and Bob Geldof's ex) with whom he had a daughter, Tiger Lily. Yates died in 2000 of a drug overdose. And while Moss seems to have that drug thing down, Rhett is less than thrilled with the choice.
He told Britain's Daily Express newspaper, "Kate Moss to play Paula? I'd rather see Carrie-Anne Moss from The Matrix play her."
No one has been cast yet as Hutchence. Johnny Depp was rumored to have been approached, but he turned it down saying, "I knew him pretty well... He was kind of a glam guy. He was like a god, like a shaman, so I don't think I'd be the guy."
Slide Away is being directed by Nick Egan, who shot several INXS videos back in the day. The title comes from an unreleased duet between Hutchence and Bono.
