Michael Showalter came to fame along with the rest of his sketch comedy group, The State, in the early 90s when they went from performing for other NYU students to having a show on MTV. Since then each member of the group has gone to many other great comedy works. Theyve created television shows, written and directed movies. Showalter himself co-wrote and starred in the cult classic Wet Hot American Summer. He also teamed up with Michael Ian Black and David Wain in a stage show called Stella which...
I liked the Baxter quite a bit. Hardly one of my favorite movies, but as far as romantic comedies go, it was quite good. Than again, everything involving the Michaels is great.
Showalter and the rest of the State/Reno 911/ Stella gang are true gods of modern comedy. I sincerely hope Stella comes back soon, and as for the state DVDs, those are necessities!! Btw- I loved the Baxter. It's one of the funniest romantic comedies ever and comes full circle at the end. Genius. Good interview.
So cool...I loved watching the state. Everytime I see Michael or watch Reno 911, I'm like these guys use to be in the state! I also think wet hot american summer is hilarious, I love that when the kids ask too many questions they get thrown in the van and dumped out on the side of the mountain. I look forward to Michael's new endeavors. ♥
The State is one of my favortie shows ever. I wish they would finally come out with a DVD so I have more than my crappy old tapes I recorded and the 'Skits & Stickers (Stickers not Included)' VHS. It was really one of the funniest shows ever on telivison.
More from all State members and MTV, put the damn DVD's out...
Now if I could only find a copy of State by State with The State...
How are there DVD sets for The Simple Life and not for The State?
Just imagine if David Lynch created a show starring The State, which lasted for 2 seasons. I estimate that would take 26 years to bring it to whatever the prevelant home video format is at the time. Until then I will continue my nectarine fast until The State comes to DVD.
For the truly dedicated fans, I would suggest checking out these. They're the short skits that the guys from Stella put out before they got a TV show. These were done without the restictions of network censors.
