Actress Mo’Nique called for a boycott of United Airlines after getting into an ugly spat with a flight attendant. The trouble began when Mo’Nique’s stylist stored a hair dryer in a first class bin above where the actress was sitting. The stylist sat in coach, so a flight attendant questions why she used the first class bin. Another flight attendant didn’t believe the hair dryer belonged to Mo’nique. And that’s when the shit hit the fan.

"I felt like I was being treated like an animal," said Mo'Nique, whose full name is Mo'Nique Imes-Hicks. "This happens to black people all the time and they don't have a voice. I have a voice," the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.

Security escorted the still-livid Mo’Nique back to the Chicago O’Hare terminal, where the she booked another flight to New York.

"I won't (fly United again), and I hope no other black person will fly them either," she told the Daily News.

Being Caucasian, I’m not sure what airline I should be flying. I hope Mo’Nique can fax me some information concerning this problem. I’m praying I'm not supposed to by flying Southwest Airlines.

Black people always get hasseled when their personal stylists try to stow things in first class?

the thing that kills me is that things like that happen to white people too... it's just that you don't see us taking it personally and claiming it's a race thing everytime it happens. STFU no one cares!

Nonsesne, I'm white and I take everything personally.

In fact, I'm taking this comment personally right now.

And I'm considering launching a boycott against you.

I hope she does fly Southwest from now on.... because they will make her buy 2 tickets, because she will obviously take up two seats... three if you count her hair dryer.

Off topic, but I figured it didn't really matter here.
...unless the topic is racism.

Has anyone seen the Chappelle's Show Lost Episodes?
The second or third episode in particular.
Hilarious and a perfect display of why racism is nonsense.

I'm not one to be dismissive about racism, so I'm not going to comment about the actual incident because the details look a bit fuzzy. But motherfuck do I hate that woman. Goddamn, she's irritating and unfunny.

Also, if Mo'Nique actually employs a stylist, she's certainly not earning her keep.

"In a related story, Chicago P.D. pulled over the plane in mid-flight because Mo'Nique, an African-American woman, was sitting in first class. When stopped, police asked Mo'Nique for her license and registration (because obviously the seat must have been stolen, because as everyone knows, there isn't a single black person in America who can afford a first-class seat on a plane). Minutes later, all hell broke loose. Mo'Nique is now calling for a boycott of the entire Chicago police department, urging Chicago's black residents to refrain from calling them for help, because that will assuredly solve all problems of racial discrimination in this country."

wink

On a serious note, yes racism still exists and it sucks and it should be stamped out at all cost. But this really sounds to me more like a "Do you know who I am?" type celebrity who had a taste of the real world for a second and couldn't handle it. Come on Mo'Nique, you could be using your "voice" to deal with some of the real issues of racism that go on everday rather than this petty bullshit. And by calling for a boycott of an airline, what about all the black people who work for the airline whose livelihoods depend on United's business? That's where the true disparity exists in this country -- in the economics. The fact that you'd be hurting employed black people in this country, because you couldn't keep your hair dryer with you,, Mo'Nique makes you teh suck. But no, I get it -- having access to one's hair dryer is an important right in this country that will lift all of us up. And someone should definitely pay.

I had a similar experience when flying on BET Airlines. They told me I couldn't store my accordian in the overhead bin. Racist bastards.

In regards to the fat chick in the picture above? I'm suprised the airline didn't charge her for two seats.

I think people are missing the important part of this story where it says she has a personal stylist. Someone gets paid to make her look like that.

What the stylist had to fly in the back of the plane and not up front in first class.

I think the stylist should complain.
