At the kick-off of this past Memorial Day weekend, while most of you were beginning your three-day BBQ bender of luke-warm beer, hot dogs and Pepto-Bismol, Brooklyn based band Dub Trio took the stage on Late Night with Conan OBrien. Alongside Mike Patton, Rhazel and Dan the Automator, they delivered a rousing set that made fellow Conan guest Halle Berrys appearance dull in comparison. Performing as part of Pattons Peeping Tom project, Dub Trio proved captivating, bending notes like they bend genres...
I actually saw them at the Chicago stop of the Gogol Bordello tour. They were pretty good... They would have been better if I knew what to expect. They came out and started playing, and nobody knew what to do because their music was very different than you'd expect to hear. But in any case, they were still quite good.
Saw them open for Flogging Molly last week. They weren't awful, but it was not a very good fit for them.
Kind of boring actually as compared to FM and the Aggro-Lites.
