So far, the doping scandals that have rocked other sports have yet to surface in golf. That may change soon - golfers at the World Amateur Team championship in October will be tested for steroids.

The news is getting mixed reactions from players.

Tom Pernice Jr. said he believes golf needs to send a clear signal that performance enhancers won't be tolerated. He said a detailed testing program, complete with a list of banned substances, is the only way to deliver that message.

"I think so, for the future of the sport more so than what's going on today," Pernice said. "We need to do it for the college and high-school kids."

However, some golfers like Fred Funk (his actual name) see humor in the situation.

"I wish they would accuse me of using steroids," Funk said Wednesday, strolling quickly from the putting green to the locker room on the eve of the British Open. "I would be honored, flattered."

Golf's current code of conduct has players policing themselves for steroid use.

Even if ol' Phil was doing steroids I don't think anyone would care since he has a way of "Tin Cupinig" his way out of winning most tournaments he plays in.

John Daly may have a lot of fucking chemicals running through his bloodstream at any given time, but I doubt steroids are one of them.
