Xbox not releasing games on HD-DVD. Everything for PS3 will be on Blu-ray as far as I know. (I believe the reason 360 games aren't slotted to be on HD-DVD is that it's a 100 dollar add-on that most people won't get.)

The games for it will be amazing and movie capability is phenominal.
And you know this because you have a personal time machine and travelled into the future?
Well, of course not but I have seen a Sony Blu-Ray player and the films first hand and have to say the movies look fantastic and only have oppurtunity to improve with time just like DVD did. As far as the games go, I mean, unless SquareEnix fucks up or Metal Gear turns south, PS3 looks to have some awesome games in their line-up.

honestly, if your going to pay that much for a machine that plays video games, why dont you just buy a computer? with sonys estimated price of 600 bucks, justifying it by saying its cheap if you think about the value of the blue ray player it is, thats great but i want to play games on a video game console, not watch movies(though its a plus).
No doubt! With $600 I could beef up my computer so much! I could install a new DVD drive or better yet a DVD-RW drive, put in a new video card, double it's memory and get a Flat Panel Monitor%u2026 so yeah%u2026 I am beginning to think a PS3 is less than a great idea in comparison.

Square Enix fucks up pretty regularly, actually. Both parent companies and the merged version. I have personally enjoyed most of their games that I've played, but the only company I consider to have a perfect track record is Blizzard.
Anyway, key words are "looks". We haven't got copies of the games yet, and it's *always* up in the air before that moment.
I don't see $600 bucks worth of games, and as fantastic as Blu-ray may or may not look, I don't have HDTV. So I'll pass for the time being.

Well, I don't see $200 worth of games for any next gen console yet. And really, it doesn't take $600 worth of games, only one game you really want to play that you can't play elsewhere. Immediate gratification will beat practicality any day of the week.
Or you could buy the lower cost version for 499.
For the features and future proofing i dont have a problem paying alot more then you guys will
(gbp uk). I will also purchase the other main consoles as well. Dont see the point of people bitching about the price, if you dont think its worth it then stop whining and just dont buy it.
After watching the demos im sold, hell i would pay the 500 quid just to play Warhawk! first ps game i ever played!
I would never buy a new console within the first 6-8 months, let the bugs get worked out first. Otherwise I can think of one very good reason to get a PS3:

True about the game selection for the other next-gens. I actually don't yet see anything I'd buy a 360 for. But considering the Revolution is going to price around 200, 200 dollars worth of games for it would be all I really need..
That's my formula. I'm sorry, but there is no game on the face of the planet that would ever justify spending 600 dollars on a system to play it, all by its lonesome. Not to me.

I eagerly await this game!
Last I heard, GTA IV was coming out first for 360. If you're getting a PS3 for other things, I'd definitely wait for the PS3 version, but if not...
