I don't know about the goth scene...
But for punk/rock acts you got the Vault, the Thunderdome, and Brass Monkey in Baltimore
And in DC you got 9:30 club (lot of big-name acts go through there), Nations (Big names too sometimes), the Black Cat (I think Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters actually is part owner of it; great club saw the Suicide Machines there biggrin ) and that's about all I can think of.
I don't know how up-to-date any of my info is on those, I've been down in LA for almost a year now, so...

I might be wrong, but I don't think the Vault or Thunderdome are around anymore.

See, I'm ashamed it took me this long to find this thread.

Sadly, folks, pretty soon Midnight will pretty much BE the goth scene in DC, once Nation closes to make way for the.... [choke].... baseball stadium. Anyone else miss ChiarOscuro?

Takakoshi, I'm at Midnight about once, maybe twice a month these days. We'll have to hook up there at some point.

I've been wanting to go to Elektroshock for a long time, but haven't made it up.

Nation should just rebuild in a better neighborhood. I'm would think that the MLB is buying them out for a considerable amount of money.

Elektroshock is cool. EinGlasWein and I used to go there all the time.

Thunderdome reopened as Club Mate. It's mainly for dance music, but they advertise something called "rock 'n roll Thursday."

Good neighorhoods don't WANT Nation, or any of the clubs from that neighbhorhood, in them. Clubs like that moved into Navy Yard in the first place because that was the only place they could find. The O Street gay clubs got the worst of it. They were the first to be closed down because of the baseball stadium (months ago), before that were in mediation with the city. They were essentially told that the only place that they would be ALLOWED to move is Prince George's County, nowhere near a metro station.

Alchemy is back open. It totally slipped by me, but they had the first night at the new place last Thursday.

It's a club called Envy in Northeast DC.

I'm near Maryland...kinda. In WV between Hagerstown and Cumberland. Don't really do the club scene though. But, there are a few strip joints I got to every now and again.

I'm about 2-2 1/2 hours from DC & Baltimore.
