Hi all. I've just graduated college and I'm looking for a cool, cheap, new city to live in. so start the bidding!

I've a degree in Psychology, and I'm looking for a good job market, affordable housing, and hip, left-of-center people.

this thread is only half-joking. I really have no f-ing clue where to go now.

yeah, somewhere on the left coast, like in washington or oregon, since california's so god-damned expensive. or british columbia, even, if you can swing a work visa.

I'm actually in Santa Cruz. "Freedom, CA" is a small town about a half-hour from here, notable as the location of KPIG ("107-oink-5"). It's also a state of mind, like the people who put their location as "Christmas Island"

yeah, Seattle, Portland or Eugene were on the top of the list (and Vancouver or Victoria if I can get the papers for it). I doubt Seattle is as expensive as Santa Cruz or the Bay Area, though. and I'll trade rain for fog any day.

Seattle, living exspenses are alot cheaper about a 20 minutes out side the city. But beware the uncivilized that live in the suburbs. skull Proceed with caution.

Why not work in Washington but live in Canada near the border, and take advantage of the exchange rate?

I would commit suicide if I had to deal with border patrol twice a day.

Seattle can be expensive, if you don't do your homework.

I, of course, have done my homework, and my rent was JUST raised to slightly over $300.

No, it comes with a 100-year old farmhouse.

Chicago.

The rent's not bad if you know where to look. If you get a job doing psych stuff, you won't really have to worry about it. tongue

If you're looking for hip, left-of-center people, check out the Wicker Park area. It's full of artist types.
