So, I'm moving to Brooklyn around October. What should I expect? Should I bring my car? I doubt I'll need it but I love driving and like to go on road trips.

Yeah, insurance is out of control, but a car in brooklyn can be nice if you have a parking spot. What neighborhood will you be in?

If parking in your neighborhood is bad, it's pretty easy to find safe onstreet parking further down the Q and F trains in neighborhoods like Kensington, Midwood & Boro Park... When I lived in Bklyn I was able to park two stops down the F line from my (very) parking deprived neighborhood for free and had no problems at all...

Well it'll be around there. My man in Brooklyn is still looking for a 3-bedroom place. He's already (hopefully) getting me a job at some big shot restaurant in Manhattan.

I live in brooklyn. It depends which hood your in. My hood is poor so I got to travel to other hoods to buy what I want. It takes about a half hour by bus (not includeing the waiting time). By car it takes like 5-10mins. It really depends on where you live. So I suggest bringing your car with you and then seeing what its like for you. Its fucken cool driving around the city at sat night around the hotspots. In fact on the weekends its better to have a car because transit runs on the slow ass weekend Schedule. Welcome to NYC biggrin

other than brooklyn heights, dumbo, parkslope and prospect park, parking in bk is a piece of pie.

traffic is such that daytime will be faster by subway and less to worry about at nite but it is nice having a car to get around in bk and if you wanted to escape the city.

Speaking as a resident of Greenpoint, yeah insurance would suck but there is a lot of parking.

Do you like the Polish? Big part of living in Greenpoint.

G train is my comic book arch-nemesis. I'm not too far from the L train though, it's a bit of a walk but doable.

So as a resident of Greenpoint, what's it like? If it were an actor, who would it be and why? An ice cream flavor?

isn't it the Greenpoint tavern that has those huge-ass 32 ounce styrofoam cups of budweiser? ok - thats about what i remember about Greenpoint - oh and this polish breakfast place that made a damn good hangover meal - though, as a visitor, i love the Williamsburg area - Union Pool, Alligator Lounge, Black Betty - have all given me wonderful memories...

They have a world-famous valet parking service in Brooklyn. It's free. All you have to do is drive to Red Hook & leave your keys in the ignition and the prompt, friendly representatives will take it from there. Literally.
