i live in new mexico and love it-- but i grew up here. I'm a non drinker, so i don't know shit about bars.. there are lots of places to go hiking/rock climbing, i suggest the tent rocks, north of albuquerque, in Cochiti pueblo for a pretty easy hike-- lots of scenery. You can also ride the tram up to sandia peak and hike around the ski area (which is devoid of snow, and is around 70ºF) mountain biking, museum going, lots of stuff. people just tend not to want to do it for whatever reason.
and the water here (in rio rancho) is better than most places, even big cities. but that's because of all the naturally occurring dangerous minerals...like..arsenic and.. radon gas, and mercury...w00t.
