Not to jump in on the nazi issue, but I was under the impression that Asians were also considered Arrayon (or however the hell you spell it) by the nazis, hence the alliance with Japan? The war with China wasn't to do with race at all, anymore than the war with Russia or England.

Notably I'm really not sure on this and am certinally not pro-nazi, I only passingly looked into it because after hearing so much about the nazi ideal and how utterly racist they were, how they could work togethor with Japan without wanting to stab each other the back over it.

Well, if Asians were considered aryan, why would the nazis choose the Japanese over the Chinese or Koreans or any other group? The nazis just shared a common enemy with Japan. I doubt they would have been allies in any other case.

I had to do a research paper on Aryans. Turns out that Aryans are of Southeast Asian descent. India or related region. These people isolated them selves from the rest of the inhabitants of the area and considered them selves a pure and superior race because they did not marry out side their tribe with other races so to speak. The nazis discovered this idea and the rest is history.

DIJ & Rice are not fascists. As pointed out, DIJ have been involved in spreading anti-rascist messages. Here's what I dug up in my own "2 minute" internet search: "..Despite their disillusionment with leftism and popular fronts, when Pearce and Wakeford formed a new band called Death In June (DIJ) their first gig was a benefit for Workers Against Racism (a cat's paw of the Revolutionary Communist Party) at Central London Polytechnic towards the end of 1981.." http://www.stewarthomesociety.org/dij.htm (The essay is actually not very pro-DIJ, but it serves to demistify the misunderstanding that they are fascists. The author's point is that they are ambigious simply to sell records. His point being that Douglas P is a right-wing/"individualist" anarchist.. not a belief I personally share but surely not enough for me to hop on the censorship bandwagon.) On the subject of Mr. Rice, he clearly claims to being a misanthropist. See, the guy just hates everybody. He has quite a history of pulling pranks to increase the air of confusion about him. (I highly recommend RE/Search's Pranks to anyone who wants a good laugh.. some inspiring material for any "culture jammers" as well..) What it really boils down to is I may not agree with all points of the artists' philosophy, but I do enjoy their music. Boyd Rice was extremly influential in the early industrial/noise scene and, as artists, I respect both him and DIJ. Please do a little (and by that I don't mean 2 minutes) research before jumping to conclusions. It's a real shame that these artists have been slandered. So much for freedom of speach.

Please, DIJ identify with National Bolshevism, use Nazi and fascsist symbols and Art, and have a mysterious tendecy to play alongside all kinds of fascist and white power bands in Europe, including a benefit show for Yugoslavian fascists. There name comes from the infamous Nazi "Night of the Long Knives" and they are not being ironic or "postmodern". Boyd Rice is a long time Nazi and founder of the Nazi punk band American Front. Apologize all you want for them, but there is no doubt these people are fascists.

Sorry, man DIJ and Rice are some tacky, undertalented attention whoring motherfuckers, but they're not nazis. American Front is also not a band and hasn't existed for close to 15 years so I'm not sure where exactly you're getting your facts from. There is a very major, very real difference between a gay guy with a uniform fetish doing bad goth industrial Joy Division knock offs and people actually promoting racism or fascism. These guys are guilty of little more than bad taste.

This is nothing more than ARA making something out of nothing because they haven't got the balls to cross the Orange Curtain and get their asses beat by the very real, very easy to find nazis, so they're going to picket the Key Club safe in the knowledge that no nazis are actually going to show up.

The war with Russia may not have been about race, but Slavs are/were not considered Aryan. Hitler considered the Slavic peoples (Russians, Ukrainians, Poles, Serbs, among others) to be subhuman. He also wasn't a fan of Mediterranean Europeans like the Greeks.

Not so true. Italy was an Axis member, and supplied Germany with many handy things, to include the infamous salute. Hitler also initially admired the Greeks (seeing them as descendants of the Doric--and supposedly Nordic--race). Unfortunately, the Germans grew disillusioned with us. Partly to blame was their least favorite activity (guerilla warfare), but I suspect it had to do with the fact that (despite our crazy hateful neighbor antics), after 400 years of occupation, you really couldn't tell a Greek from a Turk or vice versa. wink

So, haha, there's you mildly historical post, which probably just lowers the "real estate value" of reprobate's actually informative post. wink

Yes, I meant to type “group” but had DIJ in my head. Nonetheless, Rice’s fascist pedigree is impeccable.

I don’t think DIJ use of fascism imagery, music, lyrics, and references in their work is simply apolitical, bad, goth, art-music. There use of fascist and nazi symbols is a celebration of nazi ideals. Frankly, they have enough of a fan base with fascists, and a relationship with people who are undeniably fascists to make me think, where there is smoke there is fire.

You are partially right about LA-ARAs weakness. They actually do go to the OC when fascists are organizing public events. These aren’t SHARPs though. They are a couple of 140 pound vegan punks and 58 year old holdover from the old left who has been doing organizing against Nazis and the Klan in Socal for the past 30 years. Not exactly the group that is in a position to go down and throw down with fascists.
